Well I finally go to see a foot specialist about my bumm ankle. X-Rays were negative. No break, no stress fracture. Just a bad lateral ankle sprain.

I was given clearence to start working out using as little non-impact cardio machines as I want, IE: Bike, elyptical machine. I was happy about that.

He also gave me a referral for 6 weeks of physical therapy twice a week.

He said what I have is nothing uncommon for someone who sprained their ankle 6 weeks later. He said it should heal and I'd be back to doing my normal thing pretty soon with the therapy and wearing the air cast he gave me.

Worst case scenario is that I have a tendon that won't heal properly and it ends up over stretched or elongated instead of wrapped tightly around the ankle. That requires Scoping my foot. But he really doesn't believe thats what I have. He seems to think in 6 to 8 weeks I'll be back to the races. If after 12 I'm not then it's the worst case thingy.

I guess I'm happy i didn't break anything and can start getting my fat ass back into the gym after an almost 7 week layoff. I just wish I could play ball. He said I could hit lightly and maybe play some doubles but no running around the court yet.

I'll miss the LI Open but if his sechedule is correct I should be healthy for the NYC Pro-Stop.

Cross your fingers...

Ankle sprains suck.... on the plus side...after you have many, you can bend your ankle at 90 degrees and it doesn't sprain anymore! ;-) (slight exaggeration)

Two Words: "Wobble Board".... best therapy ever for ankle sprain rehab.

And for protection during recovery...or during sports that demand protection... (Volleyball).... Bioskin TriLok

Good luck with recovery.

Make sure you do the PT....I've been dealing with a bum ankle for the past 20 years (yes, I'm that old...lol)
and finally did PT last year and it did wonders. No ankle rolls for a while. I was average one every couple
of months.

That sounds like good news to me. If it ain't broken, it has to be good news. :)

What would be worst is if you had a bad case of smelly FUNGUS with those ugly looking creature they show on TV eating away at your toes. :(

Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl......

Someone else mentioned a "wobble-board" to me. I'll have to check it out, thanks.

I think mine was a 'kit' for like $10 or $20 ... I had to screw it together.

My club has a few Wobble Boards in it's array of fitness equipment as well.
