I've started doing something a bit different when I string now. It is somewhat a pre stretching technique but not quite. For each main and cross, I pull and tension with the head tensioner and then let it set for about a minute. I then release tension completely and then pull and retension the same main or cross string. My theory is that this allows the string to prestretch without overdoing it. I have not measured for loss of string tension over time but the tension does seem to be much more consistent across the entire string bed. Does anyone else use this technique?

I haven't used this technique as you described, but I have tried 2x pulling (pull to specific tension, release, then retension) but not waiting the 60 seconds...

I don't have the patience to wait that long between tensioning.

personally, i don't have the time nor the inclination to tension a string twice with a minute between each tension pull all in the hope of reducing tension loss, which is going to happen once you hit the ball regardless of whether you apply your technique or not.

that's 30 minutes of your life that you'll never get back to MAYBE save 1-2 lb of tension.

I pre-stretch the set (multifiliments). Route it around a solid pole 20' away, grasp both ends tightly in hand, and lean into a couple of times.

I've seen that technique on Youtube and may just give it a shot. I only do the tension/retension when I'm doing my own sticks.....it is much too time consuming to do it for every racquet I string.
