World Outdoor Racquetball Announces WOR Hall of Fame
Portland, OR; January 18, 2012 – World Outdoor Racquetball is proud to announce the creation of the World Outdoor Racquetball Hall of Fame (WORHOF) dedicated to recognizing the greatest Outdoor players and contributors of the sport. This announcement starts the process of selecting the inaugural Hall of Fame class of 2012, which will be inducted in July at the Racquetball Warehouse WOR Championships.
Eligible candidates include any player, contributor, innovator, or leader over the age of 25 from any country who excelled Outdoors on 1-wall or 3-wall courts of any length. A selection committee will measure the validity and quality of any nominated candidate and annually induct a new class for this exclusive and prestigious honor.
WOR Executive Director Hank Marcus celebrated this announcement “The WOR Hall of Fame is a great step forward for Outdoor Racquetball and will finally recognize those players and contributors who inspire all who follow them playing in the sun.” WORHOF Chairman Brett Elkins stated, “WOR is a unique part of racquetball that has so many legendary players, leaders, and contributors who have made the sport what it is today. It has been a privilege working to honor those who have paved the way for outdoor racquetball’s unprecedented growth.” WOR National Director Greg Lewerenz commented, “The creation of the WOR Hall of Fame signals that it is time to acknowledge the rich history of our outstanding athletes and contributors, who have pushed outdoor racquetball to the forefront of our sport.” Further announcements and information will be available on worldoutdoorracquetball.net.
