Even with current unemployment rates, what are the worst jobs you have either had, observed, or heard about from friends, media, etc?

The one I observed is this: Being the men's bathroom attendant (yes they still have these) in Cheli's Chili Bar in downtown Detroit.

When i use to farm with my dad we had a lease with a lady that included once a year we clean up around her property. This lady had loved some many animals but couldn't take care of them because she was elderly and just plain dirty. This gal had about 20 dogs in her house, which many had died and started to melt into her carpet. 10 or more 100 gallon fish tanks that were filled with algae and a few dead cats that had fallen in from trying to find water to drink. She also had 5 Cockatoo cages with 4 of the birds dead in them and 1 still alive cussing at us as we cleaned up the carnage!! This was just all on the inside of the house. The outside had an old abandoned empty pool with about another 20 dead dogs in it that i had to scoop out with our backhoe. Needless to say that was the worst once a year job i ever had.

That sounds awful, almost traumatic, like seeing the recent carnage from Ohio with the escaped exotic animals shot and lying dead in a pile. That one would have bothered me for awhile.

Isn't that the same as the Cheli's Chili Bar job?

In a former life as an environmental engineer - I spent enough time in & around landfills to forge my opinion of our culture's wasteful ways.

There is nothing like seeing a river of semi-trailers - hundreds per day packed with trash - endlessly tipped into an former stone quarry. Until that 40acre, 300' deep hole is capped with waste. The "ground" jiggles when a D8 bulldozer crosses it...

Even more fun, drilling or excavating through decades old trash...
