I play with whatever ball is going to be used in my next tournament.

Ball Preference was brought up in a similiar thread, I just don't know where.... I said Green, Purple, Blue, and I hate Ektelons!

Now Bubbles dont knock all the Ektelon balls until you try out the new batches that just came out. :) Ektelon had a bad year last year due to a new supplier that messed with the makeup but the results from recent tests have been very positive. Give a can of the new Black or Fireballs a try.

I also usually play with whatever my upcoming tournament will be using to get used to the feel/pace of the ball. Most of the tournaments I play are using the Pro Penn Green so thats what I predominately use although I have heard we may be switching to the Pro Penn HD Purple next year.

OK, OK, OK, I'll try the new ones, where can I get them? They don't have them in my pro shop... IMO Last years Blue ektelon Balls (and I used one last night) slide, and don't have a "true" bounce.

I know that all the major online stores have received new batches... Check out www.lawlersports.com and ask for Manny he can get you some new cans of the Ektelon balls. I am not saying you are going to fall instantly in LOVE with the new balls or choose them hands down over the Penn balls but they are much nicer and it seems the problems from last year have been fixed.

Penn HD...good ball..rewards a solid hit, punishes the off center ones. Takes spin consistently and has a nice true bounce.

I also prefer the Penn HD. Feels a bit heavier, but once you get past that, it does seem to give a truer bounce.

Dang... they fell LIGHTER to me. Just less lively than the other balls.... which by the way I like.

I am a HUGE fan of the Penn HD--I really like their response after a hit.Very good action on hard splat shots.I do want to try the Ektelon Fireballs.

I prefer the HD balls. I find them to be lighter. Every time I use the HD then go back to the green I swear the green feels much heavier.

Easier to see except when the carpet on the outside is dark.

Maybe it's just the word that we use. I don't actually mean that it weighs more, but maybe it's that slightly heavier, deader reaction when the ball strikes the wall. They don't come flying off the wall like a superball. Don't really know how to explain it, but when I hit it and I see it bounce off the wall, it feels like that's how it's *supposed* to bounce, if that makes any sense.

Rob a little bit of advice when conversing with Billgeo...sense is not needed.
