So looking at the prices for each division....100 for the first, and 60 for the second division. I know this is an international event and all, but that seems way too high.

I'd love to take my kids and have them play in this, but I'd be spending $320 just for their divisions alone. If they get 200 kids for this tourney, ad 160 for two events, that's around $32,000. Where does all that money go. They're not giving out money to winners, assuming it's like every other national event, they'd only be serving lunch....just seems way too high for a junior tournament.

Does anyone else think that?

Does anyone know where the entry form for this is located?

We wanted to enter Ian (he's 6) but just to have some fun with other kids that like playing. He really enjoy's the game, but 100 bucks!! Holy crap!! I'm going to go down to the corner and get out my begging pan.

Shoot and I'm local. Jackie can probably take him to his during the day matches. I can't imagine taking off the work, plane tickets, and hotel. How did my own parents pull this off? Thanks Dad!

The money goes back to the IRF. These tournaments pretty much keep the IRF running. I agree it's steep but how many people just spent $100 on their US Open entry fee? How much do you think is reasonable?

I think as an adult, you just turn the US Open into a vacation. Probably the same for the parent's going to the junior event.

Problem is, at the US Open how many games do you get to play (if you keep winning)? 6 or so? Probably doubles, mixed divisions too.

For Ian's 6- there's 3 other kids. Don't think they're going to be playing doubles as they wouldn't understand. So the one event. Essentially 100 bucks for Ian to go play around with some new friends playing a game he likes.

For Lexi's 6- there's one other girl. Lexi just isn't into the game like Ian so paying out 100 bucks for her to just stand about and get killed...nah.

I'm all for amateur racquetball and getting the juniors out there and playing (it's why I still play the game). Just seems like a lot of money when around 100 bucks will pay for the entire season of soccer/baseball.

Course, same could be said for Tennis or Golf or something. But even there the kids are playing a lot more games or a big field.

Some good points Willie. What do you think the divisions should be priced at? Could the prices depend on the number of entries perhaps?

I guess you could estimate the number of entries and then come up with the model that way. For 3 games of 6 and under that will probably take a total of 2 hours to play (maybe) I'd think something like 20 bucks.

FYI Reid,
These major Jr. tournaments last a week and usually provide breakfast and lunch for the participants thoughout the week, plus a lavish awards banquet at the end.
All this for only $100.00. For most the hotel room alone will run ten times that. And then there's dinners and airfair.

JTMaurice,
Here in Canada all enteries must be made through our national governing body. No public entry forms exist.
