What string/tension do you guys like for restringing your gearbox racquets? Do you prefer a different gauge/tension than what you've used with previous racquets?

(just popped my first set of strings in a GB racquet today, so will need to decide what I want to restring at)

thanks,
Matt

I use Ashaway's new Ultrakill 17. This string does not stretch, so I string at 28 lbs.
I have a GB250 185. strung this way the racquet plays like one strung at 31-32 lbs.

Do you mean the ultrakill does not relax after stringing, or that it does not stretch as much on impact (so you want to go with a lower tension)?

Why are you choosing this string over others?
I've got some lying around, but haven't strung anything with it yet.
Reviews on RBW were a bit iffy -- frequent breaks and pretty stiff.

The Ultrakill string is made with a Zyex Multifilament core which helps prevent tension loss. These fibers do not stretch like normal mono strings. Ashaway recommends stringing at 10-20% less tension than standard racquetball strings. After stringing with Ultrakill, the racquet immediately plays and feels like a racquet strung at 31-32 lbs ( after several games and the approx. 10% loss in tension which results with mono.) I do not notice a loss of control or power during the life of the strings as I did with mono. Durability has been good for me with no "premature" breakage problems. The only time I have noticed any stiffness was when I used it the first time and did not heed Ashaways recommendation to string at 10-20% less tension. That racquet played like a "piece of wood".

Gearbox mono-filament, 18g, 36lbs.

I like 18g string and the fact that my GB racquet can handle 18g strings without them breaking a bunch. GB is the only racquet I've been able to keep 18g strings in.

Gearbox 18g mono @ 35 lbs for me. I too have had no breakage with this string. Going to be trying Prince Premier Power 18g multi-filament to see how it compares; will give an update once I've tested it out.

33lbs 17G Pro Zone String

I also tried the new ultrakill and had the exact same initial problem. Even after dropping it from 33lbs to 27lbs it still felt stiff.
Gearbox, so tough it should come with a helmet and a cup....

Everybody prefers GB Mono over Multi? I string the Multi 18g @ 33 lbs constant pull; probably equal to 35 lbs on lockout machine. I may try to go up another pound or 2. I loved the Ashaway Ultrakill 18g but it was hard on my arm. I took 4 lbs off the tension. My racquet is the GB250 170 Quad.
