:)

Perty low. The old system is still around but I just don't have the strength to run it. We'd also need some time to actually advertise to get everyone signed up and playing early on.

Plus maybe make up some new rules or something. Something where someone can come in mid-season and then start playing and maybe have a chance at winning a round or something. Plus get some sponsors...

Yeah...

Plus we've got your parents visiting this weekend, two soccer games, and a baseball game to attend. . can't be glued to the computer all weekend waiting for results...

How have you guys played fantasy racquetball in the past? I'm curious to know the scoring system.

Willie developed his own program. You'd have to talk to him about it. It was very accurate in predicting results and stuff. . just no one to help with it so it died.

I wonder if something could be created similar to ESPNs Pigskin Pick em. Just choose the winners of matches in each event. Wouldn't be as complicated maybe.

I dunno how that one works. I guess if someone wants to outline it for me and let me see how easy/hard it would be maybe we could get something going. I spent a ton of time on the old one though, which was fun and all, but now days have less time.

Here's the main link.

http://games.espn.go.com/pigskin/en/frontpage

The matches for each week are listed and you simply choose who you think will win each match. Might work a little differently in rball because it's a bracket but you could choose, say, the round of 8 or something like that.

Here's an overview:

"The object of the game is simple: Correctly select the outcome to as many games as you can. Regardless of the scoring system used, a correct selection counts as one point. Each of the 32 professional football teams plays 16 games over the course of the season, so the maximum number of points possible is 256. Your season-to-date point total is displayed on your frontpage, entry, and group pages. Overall winners are awarded for each scoring system, and will be updated on the Leaderboards each Tuesday morning."

What if we did a bracket tournament like March Madness? Once the draw is available on www.irt-tour.com, we can just pick our predictions and get points per round. Would it be too difficult to enter the names into your system once the draw is out?

I'm just throwing out random ideas because I played it in the past and it was awesome. It could get really interesting after 20 tournaments! We could also do the lower tier events also, but maybe just for less points?

What do you think?

I Like the idea, and its simple to keep track of. Maybe extra points for saying how many games the match goes. So call the winner and number of games required to win. I think the number of games adds a little spice.

Guys what we did before was everyone started with points. I had a program to figure odds on a player to win a match, with a point spread. I figured this wasn't as boring as everyone picking a player like Kane to win in the 16's. Instead they had to decide if Kane would win and also not allow the other player to score more than 3 points. Sounds simple I suppose but the mathematical calculations were REALLY close in predicting the outcomes of a lot of matches - it was a little scary sometimes. [Side note: I remember it predicting a certain outcome like the opponent wouldn't score more than 1 point - EVERYONE bet against it including me and we all lost. Was crazy cool because it was like predicting the future. :) ]

For the lower tier events, rounds, and grand slam points to bet were all dynamic based on how big the event was, how important the match was, and how late into the season it was.

Anyway, it also took into account the games played, had a ton of stats like donuts given, twinkies, tie-breakers, games won against other players, a history of their games, and a lot of other stuff. It was also a fun programming experiment that was kicked out the door.

The problem was...no one really knew about it. We had probably 20-30 people playing at it's height. As much as I like to make a few people happy, there was a continual time-sink into maintaining it - you had to get the matches in beforehand, people had to be notified, the system had to make sure the timezones were setup correctly and no one could game the system. All in all it was a lot of fun, but no official support, no sponsor, and so like a lot of the other systems I created it went into the sunset. I thought it could have been huge - had like 500 people playing...but alas wasn't meant to be. The code is still there though, so if someone really wants to step up on the other aspects, I'm game.

Next time I develop something directly for racquetball, I'm going to make sure it has support first.

Willie,

I don't know when this all happened but do you think that with greater use of facebook etc word would get out this time. Also, I wonder if Jason might be on board, as it keeps people very interested in the IRT. Fantasy football essentially does the same thing. If it was promoted on the IRT and IRT network...

How much money are you talking about?

Not wanting money really, more wanting people to actually use it. :)

I want support from the IRT, USRA, WPRO. Crap like that.

I want a few dollars kicked in by a sponsor to help with improvements.

I've got an idea. How about a fantasy where you choose 2 players but they're rank has to equal at least 10. Then decide points on games won - games lost + rank + total aces. Something along the lines of that could probably work. Tell me what you think

Last I checked...no one is interested in running this except me.

And I don't even know where to start and I don't have money to make it happen.

I could give you the stuff I have, if I can find it, but not sure if it'd do you any good...

Just a lot of code lol.

you know I would do it...KC may be out of the question but would definitely go for it!

Might be a better position now to make it fun and interesting with actual prizes.
