Well, I got nailed pretty good in the right side of my face. Thankfully I had on eye protection. It was a nick-lob serve that was hit a bit off and I was just turning to view the ball return when I was nailed....
SO, for those that would ever argue about eye protection being an option then they should think again. I have my eye and my glasses are still good to go...... a small knot and possibly a black eye, but I can live with that one....
While I dont wear a jock for Racquetball I have to agree that I will not step on a court without my glasses. Only time someone may see me without them is just hitting drills and even then its rare. They have saved my eye sight at least 3 times.
I have always worn goggles, but recently stopped wearing contacts, so I ordered some RX ones. They have a full frame around the lense. Anyway,,,, just 2 days ago I was hit with a racquet for the first time in the face. It was actually during warmups, and we were both just lobbing around seperate balls, I was on the right side and my opponent was lobbing to his backhand, and I snuck in behind him to retrieve my ball and SMACK. It was 100% my fault. It knocked my flat on my back, blood everywhere. He helped me up and got me to the bathroom. The frame hit me on the bottom of the goggles and on my nose. I can't believe my nose didn't break, blood coming from both sides of my nose and my mouth. After 10 minutes of waiting for the bleeding to slow down, stuck some toilet paper up my nose, and we played the whole match, haha. I haven't played since, I wonder if I will be a little gun shy for a bit, I definitely was that match. My nose still hurts to even touch it at all.
