Am I mistaken or did I read somewhere that you can vote online for the BOD candidates? I looked on the USAR page, and didn't see any links.

I thought we had to either a. call in and vote, or b. call in and get a ballot....not sure..

Unfortunately, this will prove to be too much hassle, and I wont vote...not because I dont care, but because I have to put so much effort forth, and will forget...

There is no online voting. The ballots are in the current issue of Racquetball Magazine. You will need to put your membership number on it and sign it, then mail it back in. They have to back at the USAR by May 5th. Not much time, so to vote you should try to have it mailed in by this Friday the 28th. You can vote for 3 of the 4 candidates. I know this is a short amount of time, but please take the time to vote. It's important. If elected I hope to change this next year. There should be more time than that allowed out of respect for the members and the process.

Yes, that may be a little tricky trying manage the publication deadline and the voting deadline, though. I haven't gotten my magazine yet - that's kind of annoying. :(

Lynn,
Is there some way to request a separate ballot to be mailed to us, or have a ballot that we can download, print out and mail in directly?

Apparently like some others, I haven't received my magazine issue yet. My last issue arrived March 17th, so I'm not sure I'll get timely delivery on this one either...

I just received mine today. You're right, it's not a lot of time to vote. Very unfair to the members, IMO. I doubt you could even request one now and have time to receive it and get it back in by the deadline.

I will promise you this though. If I'm elected, next year will be different.

Received mine today! For anyone that is interested, please vote for Lance Gilliam and Cheryl Kirk. I personally know both of them and they are both more than qualified to serve on the board. They bring professionalism and experience from their current professions outside of racquetball. Lance is a CPA and therefore has the background for the Treasurer position.

How difficult would it be to institute online voting? The excuses regarding late delivery of the magazine especially when there's a deadline in place for voting BOD members are ridiculous. The repetitive mantra is for the members to rally round and get motivated, respond, vote, donate money and yet, what seem to be simple improvements require monumental effort.

I did "hear" what you said Lynn, about how things will hopefully be different if/when you're elected, however, in the relatively short time that I've been involved in the racquetball world, I certainly haven't seen much in the way of forward motion at the USAR.

I'm sure there are lots of things required behind the scenes that aren't eminently obvious to the general viewing public; i.e., me .. .. .. .. just seems a lot more difficult than it ought to be.

Fine. Denny, will you be part of my conspiracy theory?

In my mind, the problem is that the leadership is unwilling or unable to change their attitude and their methods. The communication is really poor. REALLY poor. It would not be too hard to embrace technology to assist in some very basic improvements for members, but after over a decade of cries from the ground-level via the internet, there are still no obvious efforts to do so. Instead, you see begrudging acceptance and implementation that a more modern way of doing things MIGHT be ok, IF we test it and try it in our own meandering and arbitrary way for months and years in advance. Talk about counter-revolutionary.

I think the single biggest change that is needed is someone to appoint a technical lead that is also an executive position. Maybe subordinate to Jim, but still a person that is more than simply a technical advisor. Someone that can form overviews and plans about how technology can improve the landscape for everyone.

Right now things seem very disorganized and slow and inconsistent. Having a technological rep could change the face of things, if that person had good planning and strategy skills.

I have come up with a new tag-line to approach this dilemma. Like the Brangelina name that denotes the power alliance of two major celebrities Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, I say we develop the power-team of Willie and Jackie - "Willackie", and urge them onward to inspirational heights within the USRA. For the good of the game!

Lets hear it for Willackie! Crowd responds with violent cheering enthusiasm: "Hip, hip, hooray! Hip, hip, hooray! Hip hip, HOORAY!"

Kathy, I'm confused, I get a great compliment with the conspiracy against striking intelliegent women, then you insult me with Willackie.....lol. Please, no one ever call me that :)

Their is a Technical Advisory committee (Lynn aren't you on it?) already in place, Willie participated briefly, then asked to be removed. I wont go into detail how that went...
