I just recieved a message from Crowther and it sounds like they spared no expense with this event. There is a portable court set-up right in a busy part of downtown and the vibe is great with alot of people stopping by with much interest. Hats off to the Korean Racquetball Federation and those putting on this event, it's great for racquetball and the IRT as it truly becomes the International Racquetball Tour. Does anyone have a link to the draw? Chris said he plays tomorrow.

KOREA! Nice, HIGH LEVEL!

very nice

we need to follow Korea's lead and set up the 4-wall-glass portable courts all over the country to put on exhibitions for the general public ...

the baby-faced pummelers (orr/phat) will play any team for coronas.

Pictures!!!

Looks like they have their own all glass wall portable court- similar design to IRT's but the framing is smaller- they are shipping this one to Taiwan for the World Games 2009, and apparently another portable court will be built onsite.

IRT to play in Korea for the first time on a new glass court
June 25-29 in Seoul

The 4th Seoul Kyung Jae Korea Open Championships

Dates: June 25th thru June 29
Locations: Kyung Gi Do, Ilsan and Seocho YMCA
Cash prize: $4500.00

The tournament in Seuol is one of the largest racquetball events in Korea. In the past, the event has attracted several top players from Mexico , Japan and all over Asia. This year the event will become an IRT satellite and feature top IRT professional , Chris Crowther. This year is even more exciting since the event will feature a brand new glass court that will be set up in an outdoor high traffic area where the sport will be showcased to many people who have never heard or seen the racquetball. Racquetball is growing very quickly in Korea and this event is sure to bring more people to the sport in Korea.
The tournament is sponsored by Kyung Jae Newspaper, BMS Korea, Hym Chan Entertainment Corporation, Sport- Up and E-Force

Birthdate – 11/6/78

Hometown – Riverside CA.

Right-handed - Single

Chris is the tallest player on tour standing six foot five and covering more court with one step than most do in two. He is known for his extreme intensity and his desire to hit the ball as hard as humanly possible. Pure power with the ability to hit winners with lower percentage shots makes him a threat to upset anyone on the IRT. Trying to find the consistency with his game he is still playing with raw talent. Chris just accepted a job with E-Force racquetball which gives him a great future on and off the court. He is looking for his first trip past the quarterfinals.

Are they playing in a all glass court?
And much props to the Koreans they are truly some united people and get things done fast.
Like growing samsung and Lg into multi billion dollar corporations
and almost dominating the shipping industry with hyundai engines

And spreading racquetball hmm. I wonder how they do it.
I will be in Taiwan 2009 hopefully I will get to see the court in person !!!!
4P's position placement precision power!!!! Master those four and you will become a jedi in racquetball!

I heard from Crowther yesterday, he won and beat the #1 player from Korea in the final 6,5,1 I believe. He stated that this was one of the best experiences of his racquetball career and that the people, hospitality, and overall event were nothing short of excellent. I also believe a junior player from Mexico, Jessica Parilla, I think was there as well, man what an experience for both of them. When I talked to Chris yesterday and he was celebrating with the tournrment staff and fans after his victory, I could hear people saying "one shot" which I guess is a beer in Korea, how cool, I kept wondering why people in the background were saying "OneShot, OneShot" I thought Son was over there plugging his product! LOL Great stuff and I hope to make it there next year!

Just curious, if they where able to put a court and have an event of this caliber, why didn't they bring/invite more people to the tournament?

Nevertheless a great step towards success for racquetball worldwide!!!!!!!!

From looking at the pictures and video the US Open better step up to the plate if they still plan on being the best Venue. Damn that display and the court with all the Neon/Plasma/projector screens looks AWESOME! Nice display with the outdoor and fireworks too.
