Hey Everyone,
It's almost time for the 2nd Annual Kamehameha Racquetball Championships
presented by KRC Hawaii.
This year it will be held on
May 7th and May 8th 2009
(Thursday and Friday)

Last year we had around 30 High School comptetiors playing in a Double
Ellimination Tournament.
The winner was Kainoa Inafuku, who won a GB250 Feather Weight from Gearbox
Racquetball.

Most of these players show great interest in continuing playing racquetball,
and it's a good way
for them to be introduced. Most have never participated in a tournament
before, and my tournament
is a good starting point to bridge the gap between a Non-Tournament player,
to a Tournament player.

Last year the tournament was strong due to many generous sponsors. Once
again, I'm hoping that
I can get some sponsors for this tournament.

Any form of donation is greatly appreciated.
From
Balls, to Prizes, to Score Sheets, to practically anything.

Also,
This is a great opportunity for a Demo Day/s because I leave one of our 6
courts open for either
challenges to win prizes, or it could be used for demo racquets. Last year
I had a few challenges
on that court and it helped keep the level of interest in the tournament
high.

Every Sponsor will be included on whatever form of publication we make.
You will definetely be on the Flyer, Application Form, and Info Sheet.
We hope to have a video segment to promote the tournament, and if that is
the case,
you or your company will be listed as a sponsor on that video.

If you would like to Sponsor the tournament, have any questions, or would
like to request more info,
please reply to my KRC email at...

OneShot/BlackSand Rules!
I currently own racquetball fundamentals by winterton...its a good book but i dont think its a great book for people new to the game...it doesnt really go over the basic rules and the very basics of the game in general.
can anyone reccomend a good book or the best book either for a beginner to read, or for me to read in which i can teach off of what was in the book...
any reccomendations are very appreciated.
thanks

That is this upcoming Saturday.
Sorry to those that were there.
But I had no confirmation of people showing up to the draft.
Therefore, I could not start it if I were the only one there.
A few years back some people complained about missing the draft so I didn't want that to happen again.
However, this is final.
If you don't show up to this draft, then you're going to just have to pray that your autopick does you wonders.
So once again...
If you signed up for the MNP Fantasy Football Leage.
The draft is

September 6th
1:00 EST
(Up-coming Saturday)
That's right,
the live draft is set for

Monday September 1st (Labor Day)
12:45 EST

If you cannot make it, be sure to pre-rank your players to that you will get who you want...
A few of us did Fantasy Football I think 2 years back so lets do it again this year.
Itʻs on Yahoo, and here are the details you need to know...

League ID#: 355966
League Name: MNP
Password: kane
Custom League URL: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/meetnplay

Make your team name your username on MNP so we know who weʻre playing against.

It will be an autopick draft since we are all on different time zones, unless everyone that plays can agree
on a certain time and date for a live draft.

Autopick means that you will have to pre-rank your players and what not.

Looking forward to a fun Fantasy Football 08/09 this year.
Hope most of you will join and play.
That one thread from a long while back...or at least the link
to that one programming game that I believe willie posted oh god i dont even know how long ago..but if anyone knows what i'm talking about..can you find it for me?

please and thanks

Has anyone or does anyone string their racquets with a full poly job?

I know for tennis poly is very durable and can provide extreme feel and power if you swing hard and blast the ball but utterly sucks if you dont.

Since racquetball is different and the ball itself is different I'm curious as to how this plays.

I'm finally not in the negative point zone!!!

To those who had the opportunity to hit with both sticks...
How do they compare to each other?
The biggest thing I notice right away is the balance of the racquets with the Kinetic being head heavy and the KM being even balanced.

If anyone would appreciate posting thoughts on both sticks it would be greatly appreciated.

Today I strung a tennis racquet all by myself for the first time ever. I've done 3 before but with help.
It took me maybe 45 min so I'm proud.

I have an un-strung MX170, but then I realized the IGS.
How in the world do you string that and pull tension?

If this helps I use a Prince NEOS stringer..
Help Please!!
I've been playing a bunch of tennis lately and this is the new string.
I know it's working pretty well for tennis but anyone tried it for racquetball?
To give you an idea..

Recoil from Prince is a revolutionary string that is designed to realign after each hit. Unlike traditional strings that can become out of alignment after hitting, Recoil's low friction Gore(TM) MicroWeb technology allows the string to slide back into position after each hit. Prince claims this allows the stringbed to perform with greater consistency for each strike, resulting in greater control and consistency for the player. The Gore(TM) technology also improves string durability as there is less notching due to the string's low friction characteristic.

The string is $25.00 just for the strings.
At a local tennis shop the guy said it was ridiculously expensive and they were charging $37 for the string and labor..

I just found time to post pictures and results from my tournament.
Last year I put on the Warrior Spring Shootout and had 19 new juniors to the sport participate.
This year, I changed the name to the Kamehameha Racquetball Championships and had 27 participants.

The Tourney was played on May 8 and 9.

I must say, I was very impressed with how good most of them played.
Most of them don't ever play racquetball, just for fun after school.
A big improvement from last year as well...

I must say I'm amazed by Kainoa Inafuku.
Though he is too consumed by other sports and doings in his life,
I'm sure if he started training for racquetball, he'd be a very good player.

All in all, it was a great tournament.
I was able to hold a challenge court and play any challenger to 3 points, and if they scored a point, then they took home a prize.

Which, I'd like to thank my sponsors.
Ektelon, Pro Kennex, Gearbox, Oneshot Int., BlackSand, Head Penn.
And thanks to individuals
Big Rod, Peter, Cali Bill, Ron, Son, Tom, Todd...without you guys this wouldn't be possible.

Since we're on the topic of new racquets and sponsorships for the up-coming season.
Don't you think they companies should provide each sponsored player with some sets of string or at least some sort of discount on their brand strings?
I break strings a lot and I think it would be easier if the company provided some extra strings too.
What do you guys think?

Feature Story and Event Guide to come in the near future.

I'm expecting around 32+ juniors in this event.

I finally found time, and quit being lazy and put up whatever pictures i took (I mostly did Vids, and I was playing 4 divs)
But here I have Cliff vs. Alvaro and Cliff vs. Rocky
I got a pretty cool angle (or at least i think so) during the rocky/cliff game
so enjoy!

Sorry So late by the way,
but here is what I have for tonight...

So friday was pretty much rained out, I got down to the courts at around 11ish and the weather was terrible,

Ever seen an empty beach???

This is how bad it was...

I will post some day 2 and day 3 pictures tomorrow, for itz time for me to hit the sack...
I have to say, all of you that came from the Big Rock showed a lot of class.
I swear, I mean you guys put up with the rain, wet courts, playing at night, and the changing of draws...and I didn't really hear any complaints at all....

Also,
Everyone played some honest ball,
no arguements over calls, just tough play and all the talking was done on the courts...
Scotty B, man, I have never seen you give up a call, but to call a 2 bounce get on yourself on match point for $2,000...wow that's integrity...

Lastly,
I had a blast this weekend, I hope it was the same for everyone else...
I mean, Rocky, Cliff, Alvaro, Marty all at the same event...wow
on top of that
the Gearbox Crew (Raf, Joel, Brian), Jesus^2, Gary and Blake Martin, Benny and Freddy, Rob Hoff, Scott D, Royster, all the locals...you guys made it a great event for me...

Thanks All,
I'll be looking foward to seeing you guys here next year,
and maybe I'll get myself up to the WOR Nationals sometime soon...
Is that Royster, Clouse and Kane??
