2009 Granite State Challenge Cup!!!!
NHRA will host the 2009 Granite State Challenge Cup on January 23-24 at Nashua Athletic Club in Nashua, New Hampshire. This annual event draws upwards of 100 players from racquetball clubs around New Hampshire. Instead of individual awards the only award is the Cup which is presented to the winning club team to hold until the next year. This event is open to all residents of New Hampshire or members of New Hampshire Racquetball Clubs.
In light of the recent price increase in USAR membership fees and the low turnout for New Hampshire tournaments NHRA has decided that ALL players entered in this event will get a FREE 1-YEAR USAR MEMBERSHIP. If you already have a membership your current membership will be increased by 1-year. The cost of the tournament is $25 for the first event and $15 for the seond event with a 2-event limit. (Juniors are a flat rate of $10) With lunch and dinner provided and a social in the NAC bar afterword where can you get this much for so little a cost?

This is the 15th year for the Justin Open run by tournament Directors Heather Gibson and Justin Wallace. As always this again is a charity event benefiting local charities.
The tournament is offering up to $250 in prize money for Open Singles and prize money for Elite, 30+, 45+, 55+, 65+, A as well as Open and A doubles divisions. All other divisions will receive awards.
As is usual with the Justin Open there will be plenty of good food as well as great fun for those that want to hang around and socialize in the bar on Saturday night. Not to mention some great racquetball.
The entry fee for the tournament is $55 for the 1st event and $15 for the 2nd event. (Juniors pay $20 for the 1st event and $10 for the 2nd event.)

The New Hampshire Racquetball Association is introducing a new event to the schedule this season. The NHRA Open series will be a series of (4) 1-day shoot-out type tournaments. Each event will be independent with its own prize money and winners but the players that earn the most series points after all 4 events will win the series prize. You can enter just 1 event or all 4. Each player will be guarunteed a minimum of 3 matches and it will take 5 or 6 matches to win. Be prepared for a full day of hard racquetball!!!
All players will start out in the Gold Division. If a player loses in the first round of the Gold Division, the players is moved down to the Silver Division. If a player loses in the second round of the Gold Division or the first round of the Silver Division that player will move down to the Bronze division. If a player loses in any division after that they are done for the day. Prize money will be offered to the first and second place players in all three divisions. The cost of each event is $40 and includes Gatoraid, oranges and bananas all day and pizza for lunch.
As this is our first time putting on this event it will be limited to the first 32 players entering the tournament so that we can make sure that this can be completed on time in one day.

NHRA will once again this year host the New England Regional Singles Championships at the Nashua Athletic club in Nahusa. The event is expected to draw over 150 of the areas top racquetball players. This years event will allow players to play in 3 events including some doubles divisions as well as the full complement of singles skill level and age level divisions. Join us for a full weekend of racquetball good food and a good time with racquetball players from all the New England States.
The Regional is a qualifying event for the National Singles Championships which is will be held at the YMCA in Houston, Texas May 21 - 26.

The 2008 Great Bay Challenge will be held at the Great Bay Athletic Club in Newmarket, NH on March 14 through 16. This event is open to players at the Elite through Novice levels and will have both Singles and Doubles divisions. Yes, its cold in New Hampshire at this time of year, Yes there is plenty of snow in New Hampshire at this time of year but players at this event have lots of fun and good racquetball.
I will add that one player who knows how much fun this tournament is drove straight through from Detroit, after all air travel was cancelled, just to be at this tournament. He says he drove a snowblower but that part may be just an urban legend.

Mitch Nathanson Classic Racquetball Tournament Returns!!!
The 2008 Mitch Nathanson Classic Racquetball Tournament returns to Executive Health & Sports Center in Manchester on January 25 through 27. This years tournament offers over $7,000 in cash and prizes. In the past this event has helped raise over $30,000 to help promote racquetball to juniors throughout the New England area. Also, in the past years the tournament has had 350 players and over 1000 spectators throughout the weekend.
For those new to this tournament the Mitch Nathanson Classic was named after Mitch Nathanson who died in 1991 in a tragic car accident. Mitch was an accomplished racquetball player and devoted countless hours to helping kids learn how to play. The Mitch Nathanson Foundation, a 510(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to help encourage the develpment and improvement of junior racquetball and to teach children the qualities that Mitch represented: Friendship, Sportsmanship and Selflessness.

Saturday August 25, 2007 Executive Health & Sports Center will host the Queen City Shootout racquetball tournament to benefit the Executive's Junior National Team. It is a USAR sanctioned one day event and will have a BBQ pool side and is offering prize monies for Singles and Doubles divisions.

The Shootout For Survivors will be held on June 1 - 3 at Gold's Gym in Portsmouth, NH to benefit the Cancer Advocates Coalition. NHRA invites racquetball players at all levels to join them for a weekend of racquetball and help out a wonderful organization. This is a non-sanctioned event so no USAR membership is required to enter the event keeping the entry fees to a minimum. The entry fee is $35 for the first event and $15 for the second, the junior entry fee is a flat $25 for up to 2 events. All proceeds go directly to the Cancer Advocates Coalition for the purpose or producing and hosting the first ever Northeast Regional Cancer Survivors Summit on September 15, 2007 in Madison, Connecticut.

The 13th annual Justin Open will be held at the Nashua Athletic Club in Nahsua, NH from September 29th to October 1st. This tournament features some of the top players in New England and offers a low entry fee of $45 for the first division and $15 for the second as well as cash prizes for many divisions.

NHRA is hosting a one day Shootout on August 19 at the Nashua Athletic Club, the 1st NAC BBQ & Beer Tournament!!
The tournament is limited to the first 75 registered players who will compete in 5 singles divisions and 3 doubles divisions in round robin competition. The tournament will feature great racquetball competition with an outdoor BBQ all afternoon and a party in the NAC bar in the evening.

USA Junior Racquetball website. Looks to me like a couple of upsets in the Girls 18 with Kara Mazur#1 losing to Michelle Key#4 and Sarah Hetteshei#2 losing to Ashley Willhite#3. That should make for some interesting games for the championship and third place.
