Hey everyone,
I will be in Wheeling, WV in a couple weeks for work and was wondering if anyone can suggest a good place to play. It would be the week before a tournament I would enter, so it would be nice to get some practice in so I'm not rusty.
Thanks in advance.
Thought this would be a good place to share stories or have people submit their own material.
In advance, this is not a knock on beginners. This is simply things we pick up on that give us a sense of whether someone picked up the sport recently or not.
My first contribution stems from this weekend in my squash league.
Both my opponents this weekend, before the matches, asked me, "What is the extra racquet in your bag for?"
Hey all,
Wanted to know who within USRA would be best to talk to regarding an inaacuracy in a match result that was posted to the rankings? A match I played in December (in which I lost) was credited to the wrong indiviudal, and I'm just simply looking to notify someone of it to see if it can be fixed. Thanks.
Hey all,
Having some trouble with this one. I am a lefty and 99.9% of the time I play against righties.
For some reason, I am finding it difficult to get a good return on this serve. If I pass, there's not enough power. I feel like I am having a rough time adjusting to the angle of the ball as it comes toward my end of the court. I find myself hesitating to get good position on any shot besides a ceiling ball, and even those sometimes are not that well done.
Any advice?
I'm refering to choking (get your mind out of the gutter).
I may have had the worst choke in a racquetball game ever earlier tonight. I was leading 11-3 and 11-0, respectively, in an A league match.
I lost 14-15, 12-15.
I feel like I have had the hardwood court ripped right out from under me. And even worse, I did a similar performance in my match last week.
This has been going on since I have started back playing this fall/winter from taking the summer off.
I don't know what it is. I'm fine until I get to 12 or 13, and I just can't seem to finish. The "skip" monster comes out about that time.
What are some thing you guys do to remind yourself to finish the game?
Hey all,
Can anyone lead me in the right direction regarding where I can receive instruction on how to string racquetball and squash racquets? This was a goal of mine to learn how to do this year, and I'm not real sure where to start. Thanks in advance.
Hey Commish!
Hope you had a good holiday season.
I hear you have collaborated with Fran Davis on a new racquetball book. Can you tell us a little bit about it and what sets it apart from other books available on the sport?
Thanks, and keep rollin'.

I have an interesting dilemma. A few of the gentlemen with whom I have played racquetball over the past couple weeks have an interesting way of returning the ball to the front wall. They like to boast the ball (even from chest-high), and for it being a low-percentage shot, they are proficient at executing it for winning the rally. It has gotten to the point that I am unable to reach the ball in the front court at center court position.
So...
Do I adjust my center court position forward to get a better position on the ball, or do I try to avoid setting them up to return that kind of shot in the first place? These are the only two things I can think of doing. One sets me up to get passed, the other limits my serve selection, and makes me more predictable in the box.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried it, or have you done so in a different gauge? What were your thoughts?
Hey all,
I wanted to see if anyone has tried both Python grips (wrap and rubber). What was your preference and why? I am considering switching to the wrap for this upcoming season.
Was wondering if anyone has tried this combination and how they liked it. Was considering it for my next restringing on one of the 2 Quads I have. And is the blue string asthetically pleasing with the blue accents on the racquet? Just curious.
Hey everyone,
I am moving to Columbus, OH (considered Gahanna area) and I would like to know from those from around that area where some good gyms are that also have good racquetball courts. I hear the competition is pretty solid down there, so I am excited to get down there and get better.
Anyone know what this is for, how it's calculated, etc?
Hey Jason,
I want to start off by congratulating you on your recent promotion to Commissioner. I'm sure you have some great ideas and will do some great things for the sport in your tenure.
I would like your insight on serves. In your experience, have you found it more beneficial to have just a few serves (5-8) to use in a match, or do you try to give your opponent as much of a variety of serves from as many positions inthe serve box as possible?
I ask this b/c I am starting to experiment with more variety in serving from 3 positions in the box, and I am wondering if it is really helping my game improve. Thanks in advance for your insight.
Hey all,
I need some suggestions on how to return a Z shot (not a Z serve). I usually experience this in doubles play from some of the older gentlemen I play against. It always seems as if it dies in the backcourt and I do not have enough room to effectively swing the racquet, even for a back-to-the-back wall shot. The first bounce does not occur until the ball is in deep backcourt either.
Hydration is extremely important in racquetball. Unfortunately, I am having a bit of trouble staying hydrated during and after games I play.
I have made a big effort to ensure at least 96 oz. of water per day. I can go through about 40 ounces during a session. I have tried to recover post workout by drinking a quart of water and then some gatorade to restore my glycogen levels. This helped a little but not completely.
Can anyone suggest other rehydration drinks for post-workout?
Hey everyone,
This is gflash77, new to the MNP forum. I've heard a lot about this site throughout other racquetball areas, and I gotta say I am really impressed with the forum!
I am 23 years old, and this is my fourth year playing racquetball. I have not been formally evaluated, but I would estimate myself as a B-level player, and I am looking to enter a couple tournaments next season. I play with a ProKennex Kinetic Quad 170 with Pure1 gloves. I look forward to learning and sharing my experiences with you all.
