I think right now all the pros, if they had the simple inexperience of an amateur (and the skill they have retained up to this point), they might have a better chance of beating Kane. Example.. I beat one of the greatest female players I've ever played before even knowing how good she was. Malia Bailey. When I'd realized who she was I had a significantly harder time beating her.. She's given me donuts, twice. That's not something I'm proud of but before that I had no fear of this person. She now, will never get beaten by me without me giving it my absolute best. My point is that when someone beats Kane, it will be because they have forgotten, or just have overcome the fear of how good he can be. Or else he's just bored. I admire Kane tremendously, as a racquetball player.

Looky looky, guess who finally figured out Kane.. Rocky now has enough confidence to beat Kane, and I love it. Kane is the best of all time but it's SOOOO good to see someone put up a fight. Awesome!!!!
Absolutely craziest video I've seen of all of the above....

J-man,
I remembered a few times you mentioned you practised Yoga during your career.. I just wanted to ask a few questions..if you don't mind.
1. How much did it translate into racquetball?
2. What were the main aspects that it affected (mental and physical)?
3. Did it help with recovery?
4. Are there any other pros you know that use it?
I believe you first started mentioning this around the same time you started your bulking up phase, which coincidentally was around the same time you changed your backhand swing. I wonder if these all culminated together into your later success and consistency.
Thanks

If you're stoppin' by, and need to find a good game, gimme a hollar.
Ok I admit it, I one day dream of sneaking in as a unseeded player and knocking off someone in the top 10, or 20 one day at a pro stop. One day I just might. Who doesn't dream about it..? As we all know Cliff did it in Tulsa, and we've heard of some of Polo's victims.. but what about some of the other least talked about victories of some unlikely dark horses? I'm sure someone snuck in a win off of some of the legends, once or twice, and hell Cliff actually plays injured till this day (count your blessins Jimlowe).
I did see Brian Istace almost take out Cliff once, and it would have been an amazing breakthrough momment. I do also have a video of Dan Fowler beating Rueben Gonzalez which I need to get permission to post here soon. Anyways..
This topic might actually be difficult for any of the pro's to share their personal stories-I just realized, but it's worth a shot. Thanks for anyone who cares to chime in.

All the way from Bahrain I'll be making my way to San Antonio, Texas while on leave. Anyone know where the top dogs are? I'll be in town 29 July through 10 Aug. I've seen the Kane exhibition vids and I guess Ackerman, and Eisman are ok, as well as Manzuri so if anyone is game please let me know where to go. Thank you all. I can't wait to see beautiful San Antonio.
The New Rules are bad ones, but you gotta listen to the people and apparently what everyone wants now is to see more drive serves, ok fine. How about we get creative, and give an second serve bonus on the following serve after an earned ace? Limiting any correspondence with the ref is bad for the game. Pratt got some smack talk this year but that's part of learning to make sure the call is still something not to be taken for granted. I get it, stop the chatter and the bs. Well, that's what technicals are for. Next, 10 seconds? Really? You're going to hold a watch for 10 secs. and then assess what, a technical? The same technical our ref's were afraid to call when all the bs thats been flying around for years? Timeouts: I think timeout should technically be 2-3 since that's really how everyone takes anyway. Hmmm well change is good I guess, and if anything at least we can see how it changes the game.
Just my opinion but, here's what I think it's gonna take for Kane, and others to be in contention for #1 next season.
Kane: Simply, stay motivated. Forgive Canada.
Alvi: He's got to take care of that knee, and keep improving his conditioning.
Ben: Play all events, all tiers, and keep his rythm going throughout the season.
Jack: What's the point in being that big if you don't throw around more power?
Mitch: Should master the art of peaking, and climbing that mountain. That's it.
Shane: Shave. Drink Redbull.
Carson: Drop the chatter, and junkball. Just play.
Chris: Keep reminding everyone you're 6'6.
Andy: His shot selection at times is a little shaky. Maaaybe a new haircut.
Moreno: Mobility-strength and conditioning.
Odgard: See Moreno eh.
Pratt: Ref his own matches.
Rojas: Keep Ellis in your corner.
Lengends Tour
Sudsy: Simply join.
Cliff: Hope Sudsy doesn't join.
Rueben: Doesn't matter he's already #1 in so many other areas.
Woody: See Cliff.
Bla bla bla.... I could go on.

I just wanted to give you some props, Jason, for balancing your game with being commish. I understand you can't train as much, and that must difficult to have your game performance effected so drastically. All in all I think your doing well. Keep it up, and good luck tomorrow in the Semi's with Kane.
If I were your coach, lol, I'd say drive serve to the backhand and z it up to the backhand, and pray alot. I mean alot. Just kidding. It ought to be a fun match to watch. Thanks for all that you've done for racquetball.

OK, Jman the Wii "racquetball" game fell through and what I would like to see is a real effort to get a NO BS REAL DEAL RACQUETBALL video game out there. Can you, as the NEW Commish please try to start the ball rolling with this? This would probably be a land mark in racquetball if a decent product was put out there. I understand it may not be priority one, but I'm sure many people could get on board with the idea. Thanks.
This might explain why Cliff and Kane have some of the best foot work, power, and hands...

Hockey it would seem develops every part of the body to the extreme.
Dang, and my big sis was gonna get me into hockey when I was a teen, but who really plays hockey in Tenn? Dogh!!

Hey all you fun lovin', racquetballn' Canucks.. I was wondering is there some love loss since the debacle with Kane? I get a funny feeling because I just don't here Canada and Kane anymore in the same sentence. I don't recall him playing there at all since. Can someone shed some insight as to what the situation is generally?
Also awhile back someone mentioned Brian Istace is done, and playing squash. Can someone confirm if he got the RB itch back yet like you know he would?
Lastly who's the best up and coming prospect in Canadian RB?
I love yalls RB website, and would love to visit Canada sometime.
Thanks for indulging.

Strictly looking at scores...
#5 Shane Vanderson Tampa FL over #4 Jason Mannino 3-11,11-6,11-5,3-11,11-7
Wow, a 5 gamer with scores like that.. I'm impressed. Consistency is the word that pops in my head. Jason and Shane are looking very sharp. Clean match and was definitely high level stuff as expected.
#3 Jack Huczek Dallas TX over #6 Mitch Williams 11-6,11-8,11-6
Jack dismantling Mitch W. is always amazing to see. Control verses power. Each demonstrated with amazing execution. Good scores for Mitch in the loss, but not nearly as much of a threat as I thought he'd be. I'm staying tuned though. Mitch needs a big audience to pump him up, and in that outdoors type atmosphere I don't think it was ideal for him.
#2 Rocky Carson Ladera Ranch CA over # 7 Chris Crowther San Diego CA 11-1, 11-8, 11-0
Ouch. Last game donuts are the worst. I think I caught a little of the post interview, and though it was rough on Chris, he seems very steadfast in his outlook which is a great sign. Impressive victory by Rocky. Rocky was very gracious in 03' to Kane when he beat Kane in 3 straght the year of Kane's ear infection as well.
#1 Kane Waselenchuk Edmonton over #8 Andy Hawthorne Cleveland OH 11-8,11-4,11-3
I thought we'd see a little bit more of a match out of Andy against Kane. After all Andy is a scapper, and seemingly out to prove he can hang with Kane. I think he's going to get alot better this year, and all this match exposure with Kane is going to make him alot better against everyone.
Semi's.....
#3 Jack Huczek Dallas TX over #2 Rocky Carson Ladera Ranch CA 11-3 7-11 11-8 11-5
Jack won, as predicted. I don't think Rocky's going to get many off of Jack or Kane this year, but I think he's going to have some exceptional 5 gamers between the two of them, and others.
#1 Kane Waselenchuk Edmonton Canada over Shane Vanderson Tampa FL 11-5 11-0 11-1
Hats off to Kane. He's probably the only one who can do that. I'm sure Shane handled it well, as he's a true professional and more than capable of making effective adjustments.
Finals..
#1 Kane Waselenchuk (Edmonton CAN) over #3 Jack Huczek (Dallas TX) 11-3, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9
And there it is... Good scores for Jack I think. He settled down, and started raising his level consistently against Kane. Kane needs to be aware of trends with Jack though. If Kane let's up at all Jack will pounce on it, eat it up, and cough up points, and wins quick.

After all this time competing with the best on a daily basis how amped up do you get?
