I have a friend who lives in Dayton, OH. He's looking to get back into racquetball after a couple year hiatus. He has an older racquet, I believe E-force Lethal, and needs to get it restrung. Any stringers in the Dayton area?

I'm kind of piggybacking off of the "What's Elite?" thread here. After reading through that thread I was wondering, what's the average size of the draw at the tournaments you play in? With all the discussion about Open, Elite, A, etc. I got to thinking that even if there was Elite offered at the tournaments I go to, there wouldn't be enough people to play in the division anyway.
I play in tournaments in Indiana and we have roughly 40-50 people (unless it's state singles or something) for an average tournament. Here's a link to a tournament in October [url=http://www.r2sports.com/tourney/divisions/listAllDivs.asp?TID=8754&sortBy=defaultOrder]Tournament[/url.] Out of that a handful are women, although more and more keep signing up. Open is usually around 5 players or so and is usually the smallest division. A's and B's are the largest divisions and it's rare if we have 10 each. The rest are C's and we only get a sprinkling of D's. Several people only sign up for doubles. So as you can see by our draws we would be hard pressed to have an Elite division anyway.
I guess my point is, how big are tournaments you usually go to and what's the biggest divison?

What are your thoughts on playing two skill divisions at a tournament? For example someone signing up for A and B, or Open and A. Personally I don't think anybody should be able to play down a division. If you play somewhat regularly in your state/area tournaments, the tournament directors know what skill level you should be playing and should make sure you play accordingly, i.e. if you're an Open level player you can't play A. However if you're an A player and want to try to play Open in a tournament to gauge where you are and if you're improving, I think you should be allowed to.
Yes you can always play against better players in your club and try to gauge where you are, if you're getting better, etc. But anyone who plays tournaments knows that tournament play is different than regular club play. It's more competetive and people play harder when there's something on the line. I don't see a problem with testing yourself in a true tournament setting.

Interesting situation happened last night. Player A is hitting a kill shot. Player B was running up to cover the shot and is about 7 ft from the front wall. The ball skips but comes back at Player B really fast and he has already started his swing. He hits the ball. It was a bang-bang type of play. When Player B hits the ball ball (after the skip) it breaks. What's the call? Replay because the ball broke?
At what point does the rally not get replayed due to the broken ball? When the next serve happens?
Here is rule 3.13.(f) which governs broken balls.

Here is rule 3.13.(f) which governs broken balls.
Broken Ball. If there is any suspicion that a ball has broken during a
rally, play shall continue until the end of the rally. The referee or any
player may request the ball be examined. If the referee decides the ball is
broken, the ball will be replaced and the rally replayed. The server resumes
play at first serve. The proper way to check for a broken ball is to squeeze
it by hand. However, if the referee can be certain that the ball was broken
during, and not after, the previous rally, then he can call for that rally to
be replayed. Checking the ball by any hard striking of it with a racquet will
not be considered a valid check and shall work to the disadvantage of the
player or team that struck the ball after the rally.
Just like the title says, I'm looking to buy a Head Amp 175. Mine cracked last night.

I was at a tournament this weekend and here's the situation that occured. Player A servers a wrap/jam serve to Player B. Player B only has one shot, into the back wall. Player B hits the ball into the back wall and it hits the handle of the door and instead of coming straight out toward the front wall, it comes out at a weird angle toward the side wall (not directly to the side wall but up near the service zone). Player B immediately calls a court hinder and play stops.
They replay the rally and Player B gets the sideout on Player A. Player A then argues about the court hinder before Player B is about to serve. His reasoning is that he hit a good shot and made Player B hit the ball into the back wall. Player B hit the door handle and it was his own fault so it shouldn't have been a replay.
One other note, in previous matches at this tournament the ball hit the door handle and a court hinder was called but it was more "normal". It happened from someone hitting the ball into the front wall and when it came off the back wall it hit the handle and spun off before it could be returned. It wasn't directly hit into the door handle straight off the racquet.
What is your take on this?
Edit: BTW there was no referee but there were a few observers in the gallery.

Does anyone know the format for logging in R2 sports? Is it first initial last name and then password? Is it your USRA #? I'm trying to log in and can't figure it out. I clicked on the link to send me an e-mail but it says Comcast blocks the automatically generated e-mails (I have a Comcast e-mail address and their e-mail hasn't come through). I'm trying to figure this out and any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Playing this weekend, we had a couple of situations where we weren't exactly sure of the rules. I would like to see what others' interpretations would be.
1. Playing doubles and Player A is serving (parnter Player B). First serve. He hits the ball but carries it. It hits the front wall first but ends up a short serve. Questions, is this a halfout and Player B serve or is this a fault serve and player A gets second serve?
2. Again playing doubles, Player 1 hits the ball off the handle of his racquet. It does NOT hit his hand, but it does hit the handle below the string bed. Legal hit and play on or point/sideout?

What is your thought on a referee talking during a match? I was at a tournament this weekend and reffed a few matches. I basically kept my calls to "skip", "point", "sideout", etc. in addition to calling the score. I observed some other refs saying "good shot" or "nice rally" during the match. At the end of the match and between games I told the players "nice game" but that was about it.
So, what do you guys think about a ref talking during a match? Honestly I felt a little robotic just strictly calling the score. But realistically I shouldn't be watching the game as a fan and commenting on play either, right?

Here is the draw for this weekend. IRT St. Louis Draw Looks like the first match starts today at 3 and the streaming on IRT Network starts tomorrow.
Who is going this weekend? Manny, are you bringing the traveling Lawler store with you?
So like a typical racquetball player I decided to sign up for a tournament 5 days before it starts. I log in to R2Sports to sign up and it tells me that my membership is expired as of 3/1/10. I log into my membership at USRA.org and I renewed my membership last year on 3/22/09. I'm getting hosed out of 21 days of a membership. So I'm losing ~3/4 of a month out of 12 months of my membership. Also as a note, I renewed my membership on 2/9/08 and it expired 2/9/09.
Anyone else think this is a bunch of crap?
I'm will be sending an e-mail to find out what the deal is, but I'm going to go ahead and renew today just so I can play in the tournament this weekend. Has this happened to anyone else? How was it resolved?

What's your favorite shot to hit? What do you consider your bread and butter serve? If you really need a point, what do you hit?
During a rally I like nothing better than hitting a good splat from deep in the court. I just wish my percentage was a lot higher. #-o
As for a serve, I like a high nick lob that dies in the back court. Even if you mis-hit the serve, it's still a hard ball for your opponent to turn into an offensive opportunity.

My racquetball shoes smell horrible. I have two pairs that I alternate between so they get at least a day of airing out before I wear them again. However this doesn't do anything for the smell, just wetness. I pack my stuff in the morning and by the time I get to the gym my shirt and shorts smell like my shoes. Do you guys do anything for odor control on your shoes?
Here's the situation, playing doubles. I'm on the left side of the court in the service box. My partner is on the right side of the court around the receiving line. My partner just hit a DTL shot. Other team is returning. Guy hits a 3 wall boast from the back right corner. It's coming right at me and my natural reaction is to get out of the way (it would have hit me in the chest/shoulder area so no chance of injury) so I contort myself to miss the ball. Ball barely makes the front wall for their point.
So my question is, am I required to get out of the path of a ball like that coming right at me? Now I'm not talking about reaching out or intentionally hitting the ball, but I don't have to dive out of the way or anything right? I could just stand there and let it hit me right?

Does anyone have any results for this? I couldn't find it on R2 or the INSRA website. Thanks!
Any idea when they are going to show this? I looked on the Versus website but couldn't find anything. It was supposed to be sometime this summer from what I understand.
I played with this ball for the first time today. I really liked it. It seemed to grip the wall like a purple HD, but stayed down when you hit a good shot. I would like to buy a bunch of these and play with them to get a good feel for the ball. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about it?
