Did anyone else notice the back cover of the latest USRA Racquetball Magazine.. It was filled with all the top Ektelon players and their recent accomplishments. I did notice they prominently left Paola Longoria off of the page... Is she leaving Ektelon for another company or was there some other reason to leave her off?

I am trying to follow the PanAmerican games but I am a little confused. I remember seeing the the Ecuador Mens Doubles team beat Javi\Alvaro but it appears that was the only match they played and Javi\Alvaro pulled Gold.. What happened here?

Why did the Ecuador team not play anyone else?
I have a friend that recently moved to Denver Colorado and he is telling me he is having a hard time finding people to play. Anyone from that area have ideas on the best Clubs to check out or people he should be in contact with to find other players?

Thanks guys!
Jason,

After watching the last 2 tournaments on IRTnetwork.com I have to wonder if\when Charlie is going to seriously enforce the new rules on the players. It appears the only one they have done a fairly good job of is not opening the door to argue with the ref unless they cant hear him. Hitting the ball after the rally seems to be the one that quite a few of the players are having an issue with. Rocky, Jack, & Mitch had quite a few in each game and Charlie never even offered up a technical warning let alone a technical. Serve times seem fairly good though often times slow restarting rallies after they clean up after diving rallies taking their time to hit the ball around a ton.

How do you feel the changes have played out so far? The 2 serve seems to be going pretty darn well and is adding to the speed\excitement of the game from what I can see. How do the players feel about them so far?
Anyone that says Head\Penn has taken care of their ball issues is not watching the Junior Nationals on irtnetwork.com. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE that you can break 5-7+ balls in a match. Get some quality control in the China plant ASAP.
Enjoyed it this morning but the lag right now watching Sharon Jackson vs. Tisinger and its freezing about every 3-5 seconds... Almost unbearable to watch.

Won these at a recent tournament but cannot use since I am obviously sponsored by another Manufacturer.

I have (2) Brand new XL Team EForce shirts for sale. I will put them on Ebay if no one wants them here.

$25ea or best offer.
Just checking if we are going to be doing fantasy this weekend for the quarters on... Let me know if you guys need/want help Jackie.
I was sitting down watching house tonight when they mentioned they were going to go play Racquetball on Saturday. They actually mentioned Racquetball Many times.

They even talked about whether a Z shot was offensive or defensive... Answer BOTH.
Good luck to all those playing in the Kentucky State singles this weekend. I am sorry I couldnt make it but just had too many other things going on (Boys basketball and such). Best of luck to all and I hope its an injury free weekend for all.
Looked like all the equipment manufacturers were on the wall except for Eforce. Anyone know why they chose not to or didnt become a sponsor? Of course its not like they have to be a sponsor at every event but it seems like National Doubles is a pretty big Venue to not get involved. Was there a Dollar or some other limit to be an "Official" sponsor?

Just about to sit down and watch Kane & Kim vs. Andy & Diane. With that in mind something that got me thinking was do you have to be a US citizen to play in National Doubles since you are appointed to the US National team or do you just have to be a USAR member? Did Kane get his US Citizinship?

Should be a great match cant wait to watch.
Man I am watching this match and its like night and day vs. when Ganim/Apperson played Samora/Hawthorn. Vanderson and Thoerner are tearing them up at this point and they are both looking TOUGH.

Noticed that Ganim is playing with the new Head Prototype for next years Racquets.

International Racquetball Tour Update by Jason Mannino

The IRT kicked off the second half of the season on January 8th in Conoga Park, California. There was record turn out for participation, as well as fans. Somewhere around 300 players, mostly from all over the state of California played in the event. The crowd was in full force even in the early rounds, and got to watch some great matches. Cliff Swain made an appearance in the event, and is always a crowd favorite. I suffered my first early round loss of the season, losing to a red hot Jose Rojas, who would end up making his first semi finals appearance of his career after beating Shane Vanderson in the quarters. Jose proved that he can compete on the main stage.

Later in the event, Pro Kennex's Kane Waselenchuk suffered his first loss of the season, losing a 5 game battle to Alvaro Beltran. Yes, you heard it correctly, first loss of the season. I don't know if a player has ever been through the entire first half of a season before losing a match. Kane is playing great ball, is in tip top shape, and looking to get his #1 ranking back quickly. Just a few weeks later he rolled through the entire draw in the NYC Event, only losing 1 game in the process.

All in all the IRT is in unbelievable shape, with some of the most exciting racquetball in history. I suggest if you have the time to make it to an event, you do so. It could be the best bang for your buck in the entertainment industry.

Collegiate Racquetball by Jeffrey Weiss - National Collegiate Director

The collegiate racquetball season is going strong and fast approaching National Intercollegiates, April 1-4 in Tempe, AZ. The collegiate ProKennex players have done a great job in representing ProKennex thus far through their involvement in the racquetball and outside communities. ProKennex has had the pleasure of sponsoring many collegiate tournaments this season including events in the Midwest and Southeast. Below are a couple tournaments which ProKennex supported with gear and/ or prizes.
Earlier this month, David Vandergrift of Georgia Tech University drew a great turnout at their tournament with many schools attending. The foundation was laid for more tournaments with even greater participation. Additionally, Rick Stammer, the president of the Iowa State Racquetball Team and member of the ProKennex team, organized and ran a successful racquetball tournament while raising almost $1,000 for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure breast cancer foundation with ProKennex donating a racquet to help raise money for this important cause.

It is very exciting that our players are active within the racquetball community, introducing the sport to new players and racquetball as a club sport to various colleges. Interest in racquetball across the collegiate campuses is growing due to the increased focus on expanding programs. I can personally attest to this as I am the president of the Claremont Consortium Racquetball Club team. World Outdoor Racquetball Update by Angel Calderon - PK National Outdoor Director

2009-10 Product Line Development

In the works for 2009-10 will be the improvement and expansion of Kinetic System Technology into our racquet line. We will define the amount of Kinetic in each racquet through an index system to help the consumer determine the model that suits their swing speed and game style.

The Kinetic Quad 170 will be the recipient of these improvements as well as cosmetic changes, the weight and balance point will remain the same. We will introduce the all new Kinetic KM 175 to the line and again it will carry specifications to Kane's game, loaded with Kinetic and hot new cosmetics. The original KM 175 will move forward with the current specs and will have fresh new colors.

We are in the development phase of a new KM glove and KM backpack. The Pure 1 and Ovation gloves will go forward untouched.

Apparel will have new colors and materials as well as additional clothing options.

These are a few of the changes for next season and we will definitely keep you updated with more details in the next issue!

OK Guys looking to buy a new 32, 37, or 40" LCD TV but want some opinions.

I am looking to buy a new LCD TV for my wife for Christmas for our Bedroom but not sure what are the best brands or features to look for. I would like to keep the price at or below $1000 if possible.

Brands: Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sharp, Viewsonic
Display format: 480P, 720P, 1080P
Dynamic Contrast Ration 8,000-1, 10,000-1, 15,000-1, 30,000-1 etc.
Brightness: 500, 1000, 2000, etc

I was at my brother in Laws house for Thanksgiving and he had a new Samsung 40" LCD TV that looked phenomenal but it is a little out of the price range that I wanted to spend. It had a contrast ration of 30,000-1. I dont have HD Sattelite just standard but we watch a lot of DVD Movies at home. I can get a larger TV in a 720P model but would it make sense to step up to the 1080P (Can you really notice that much of a difference)?

What does the contrast ration give you. Prices go up as the number goes up but would it be better to get a 40" with only 10,000-1 or go with the smaller size but the 15,000-1?

Here is the kicker guys. I have an 800 coupon (Plus whatever I throw in) through my insight rep www.insight.com so I really would prefer to buy the TV from them to keep the cost down so I am limited to what they carry or can get. My rep will give me Cost on any TV that I buy so TV's that are a little more expensive may fit into my budget.
