If you make contact with the ball behind the encroachment line, with your feet and body also behind the encroachment line, but your follow-through carries your racquet across the line after making contact, is that legal?
In other words, is it ok for your racquet to cross the encroachment line as long you and your entire body made contact with the ball behind the line?
Referring to mid-air shots, not went you are short-hopping the ball.
TIA, I've read the rule but it don't believe it says anything about your follow through.
Looking to order a few of these (unless there is a place to buy local) but was curious if the size profile matched most racquetball gloves?
I wear a size large RB glove. Should I order the large size or do they run big?
A recent debate has started to emerge out at my club so I thought I might shoot it by you guys here to see how most play doubles.
At my club, when playing doubles, each server serves to a designated opponent the entire match on one side of the court. Your partner serves to the other opponent the entire match.
Question: if you accidentally serve to the wrong side, is it considered a "replay", fault, or is it still in play? Some people at my club say it's replay. My thinking is it should still be in play as it's up to "The Team" to work together to defend against any type of serve. Is there an official rule on this?
This is kind of important as the rule impacts "wrap around serves" where the ball ricochets off the side, then the back wall at an angle causing it to fly into the other side of the court where your partner isn't necessarily expecting to make a return. In fact, if I try to return a wrap-around serve (instead of cutting it off) and my partner isn't paying attention, I couldn't potentially hit him.
When I post a new thread it shows up as a "Server Error". Also can't seem to delete a thread.
Anyone know who's the moderator for meetandplay.com that can help me with these issues? I've tried sending some PM last week but don't see a response. Maybe they've responded and I just can't access their messages or vice versa.
As mentioned in my previous post, having trouble with the forehand. I get low but tend to pull up as I hit, which causes me to hit the ball 2-3 feet too high off the front wall.
I've been working on putting more weight on my front foot, then trying to drag my back foot (previously I was finishing with all my weight on my back foot) to stop pulling up. Also, I find I hit better shots when I just crouch (thanks Hilario- who gave me this tip), instead of getting super low. My back knee used to almost touch the floor before I started implementing this change (still a work-in progress though).
When talking to an experienced player at my club, he said the other issue is I'm hitting the ball too far out in front of me. This is true as I'm good at hitting the cross court pass and reverse pinch, but horrible at the down-the-line shot. I almost never hit a regular pinch to the forehand side because I'm so bad at it. Not sure, but perhaps part of the problem is in my effort really rotate my hips to generate power it leads my body to lean too far out. I don't know. The guy told me to start hitting the ball back in my stance, making contact with the ball behind my front foot (like more in line with belly button would be or even further) which is supposed to give me more power and more consistency on the down-the-line shot. He's a really good player who has 20 years of experience but I don't see much hip rotation in his shots.
Any tips, on how to stop hitting the forehand shot too far out front of my body, while still maintaining power?

Anyone ever used one of these?
Thoughts?
Wondering if there are any tips or suggested mechanics of hitting that tall players (I'm 6'2), or just plain clumsy players, find more beneficial?
Been playing RB for 8-9 months and have hit a major rut. Basically, since i don't have a video to share, to make a long story short, I've been trying to emulate what this guy "Tim" teaches (see link) - is this right?:
http://howtoplayracquetball.org/tutorials.aspxTo be more specific, Here are a few bad habits that I can't seem to get passed:
-
My shots are hitting too high. This is besides the fact that I get super low, bend my knees, even can feel my racquet touch the floor sometimes, and still the ball hits 3 feet off front wall. I've been told the problem is the face of my racquet is probably angled wrong but I'm using the correct grip, snapping my wrist, using my hips, following through etc....so I have no idea.
-
Very little POWER. My backhand is non existent, even with doing ERP, following through, etc. My forehand has some power but it mostly is coming from my wrist snap even though I rotate my hips and follow through.
-
On set-up shots, serves, I tend to finish with all my weight on "my back foot." This makes me slow to react to the next shot. When I try to shift my weight to my front foot, I lose major control but power does increase....
TIA for any insight!
Just started playing RB 3-4 months ago. Recently, started feeling a little pain on occasion in the back of my hand, near the pinkie, somewhat close to wrist. The pain is really close to the edge of the back of my hand, between the wrist and the pinkie.
Anyone else experience this?
Is this normal or will it go away with better mechanics?
Any treatment advice?
I'm a bit concerned, as I tried to do some push-ups today and could definitely feel some pain there and decided to stop. In regards to RB, I only feel pain there after I hit for awhile. Usually, it's after a few bad back-hands, that may have been hit awkwardly.
I have a feeling it's because of bad mechanics. I have a tendency of using my arms too much when I swing, instead of rotating the hips. But the pain is getting worse as it sometimes happens only after a few hits.
TIA for the advice!!! I've been lurking hear for awhile and finally decided to join. Great site.
