Just wanted to ask if there was something going on...missed being on here for several days. Figured there would be a thread saying a reason the site was down....

Wanting to go back down memory lane. That was my first racquet back in 1995. Chose the most expensive racquet I could find on the Air Force Base....
Would love to find the Ekleton Rage racquet. Any shape but broken would work....

Just got home from Lawler's Pro Am and saw an amazing match with Kane and Rocky. We talked to Kim, Kane's wife, and she said it was like 84 matches without a loss so now 85... I wondered how many of those were 5 game matches....
So, me and my wife are going to be up to Terre Haute on Sat and Sunday for the tourney. Anyone else on here going to be there? Would love to meet you...
So, back in the end of January I bought a Head Extreme 170 racquet. It was used but had a brand new string job. I played with it for a couple weeks, which would be 20 games or so, and broke the string. I then strung it myself, played another couple weeks, broke that string. Strung it up again, and played a few more games before a bad play met my racquet and my partners racquet and a nice break in mine.
I then got two of these racquets from Manny, Raqman, which lasted about the same time each. Now, I have a fresh strung racquet and one off to get strung. I don't like stringing these puppies as I am not good enough or have the time either, but I am getting sick of spending money on stringing these.
I have noticed that the one Manny strung and the new factory string both broke at one of the head knots.
I do hit hard and off center a bunch, but never had this sort of luck with breaking string. The first one had a multi-filament string that others I play with just love and they have them frayed like crazy before they get them strung again...
Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to find a different racquet? I love this one..

Well, I have played with the Extreme 170 for a few months, broke 2 strings, and now had a racquet collision and broke the frame....
I would love to get a couple of these racquets, but really can't afford to buy 2 new ones. Thought I would hit the community up to see if anyone had one or two laying around because of upgrading.... I can string it if the string is broke if need be....
Thank,
Ryker

Well, I got nailed pretty good in the right side of my face. Thankfully I had on eye protection. It was a nick-lob serve that was hit a bit off and I was just turning to view the ball return when I was nailed....
SO, for those that would ever argue about eye protection being an option then they should think again. I have my eye and my glasses are still good to go...... a small knot and possibly a black eye, but I can live with that one....

OK so I am not a stinger and have only strung my old Fin racquets and a couple older racquets on my stringer.... tonight I broke a string on my Head Extreme 170 and decided it was time to figure it out.
I started out with a good analysis of the way it was strung. I had a "pattern" from this forum as well. I then spent the next hour or so trying to figure out the way to string the mains and tension them. Cheap drop weight gamma stinger with 2 flying clamps is what I got... I ended up threading the mains all the way and clamped the middle mains. Pulled the tension for the whole side at once and tried to make sure that I "worked" the tension through the stings. I then pulled the other side and clamped the mains to start the crosses.
I got the crosses woven and tensioned all the way down to where the IGS would start and I said a few choice words as I had started the whole thing on the wrong side. I decided it was going to be a 2 piece now as I was not going to re-pull the whole stinking thing. I cut off the mains and tied them.
Got the crosses done and tied off. Pulled out the old string meter and find that I am at about 20 pounds of tension. The old string was reading 25lbs 2 days ago. I had the weight set for 30 pounds....
The strings "feel" good just hitting my hand. I will see how the feel at the court on Monday. Hopefully the loss of tension will not be that much and it will feel great. If not then Lawler will be getting it to string it up...
I salute those of you that string these quickly and easily!!

So, Saturday I had the privilege to play on 2 brand new, glass back wall, courts in Centralia IL. They are at the new fitness center on the Kaskaskia College campus just west of Centralia. One of the guys that plays at Salem is the President of KC and invited us to come out for the "inaugural" play. I put the first black marks on both courts.....rubbed them off with a ball though.
I have to say they are nice and the whole fitness center is very nice. They said they will be available for a daily fee or as a student as well.....
If you are anywhere near you should look into getting over. I will post some pictures later as my wife took a bunch of pics for us as well as some video.....

March 19th and 20th will be the 5th annual tournament for Salem, IL.... not real big or fancy but some good time playing will be had by all. If you are in the area let me know and I can get you a registration form.

Is there any sort of definition to help figure out what "level" of player one is? I just ask as another thread was talking about a "low B" player and the descriptions were just not really matching what I think a low B would be.
What makes a B level or C level? shot selection and execution?
If this is a discussed topic somewhere I apologize as I am fairly new to this forum...

I was thinking that someone must have made a machine to throw balls for racquetball training such as they have in tennis and other sports. Is there such a thing and where would I find one???
thanks
thanks
I am going to meet Raqman Saturday and do some racquet demos while up there. I am looking for a new racquet. My old racquets are Fin Shark Reflex 220 and I had a Fin Jaws I 180 that I loved. I bought these racquets back in Germany while in the USAF which was in 1997....
I am looking to get something with good control and that I can get a bit more power out of as well. My budget is up to $120. I am looking at the Head Liquid Metal 170, Ektelon O3 Red, and Eforce Bedlam Knife 170. I am also going to try the Problem Child just to see how I like it....
I have a Head Extreme 170 borrowed right now and could choose that if nothing else feels better....
Anyone have any thoughts? Remember the Fin racquets???

Just got back into playing...my 3 year old is going nuts about "me play racquetball" so I gave him my old racquet and a couple balls....
He got the racquet and balls just 3 days ago and I helped him with holding the racquet and swinging a few times and have helped him a few more times....I have not really had much chance to "work" with him....
I am amazed at how he is doing already. He gets the racquet up, watches the ball, steps into the swing, and follows through....
Please ignore the mess as this is our garage that is used for all sorts of projects.....will soon get him over to a court.

We have a guy that is really good at lob serves that hug the wall. I am one that if you give me more than a couple inches and I will splat that ball, but the thing with his serves are that they don't normally come off the wall enough or they are at a height that doesn't allow a splat. They are close enough that one can not get a good hit on them to go down the line and you also can't hardly slide along the wall to put it to the ceiling.
What do I do when that ball in less than 3 inches off the wall and hanging that distance or getting closer?

I just got back into playing.... I have a pretty nice backhand and hit it pretty well. My fellow players told me the last time I played that I am twisting the racquet over and down so that I am skipping. I have been really trying to get that "right" angle on my grip of the racquet. I am not sure if I had it before or if I just twisted my wrist to compensate on the swing....
Should the racquet be 90 degrees to the floor when at the hitting position or not? I am pretty sure it is all my old bad habit, but I am also not certain....

Looking to reconnect with Joe. Knew him in Germany while in the USAF. Any help?
well, I played a great deal of racquetball back in 1995 and 1996 while I was at Ramstein Germany and I loved it.....I just decided that I want to play again. I live in the middle of nowhere. St. Louis MO area is about 2 hours, Evansville, IN is only an hour....I would love to find some good game. I considered myself to be a fairly good player back in the day. I played with some of the top players in the Air Force back then and could even get a couple points now and then on them....
I loved playing and want to go again.
