I'm heading to Poway for a softball tourney at the Sportsplex on 6/11 but my family and I will be heading out of Yuma early on Friday to do some fun stuff in the area. I have 6 & 5 year old boys so I'm hoping those of you with experience in the area can help me identify some fun ways to spend the day.

We've already experienced the SD Zoo and have been whale watching from the harbor so other recommendations would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I just moved my family to Yuma, AZ and am looking for some games. I found some outdoor courts at Carver park so if anyone lives in the Yuma area and plays there, look me up.

If there are other outdoor courts in the area I'm interested in playing. Thanks.

In watching you play in this past tournament is seems to me that you are really at peace with your decision to retire. Hopefully this is the case. You seem to really be enjoying these last few tourneys and matches that you are able to play and I enjoyed watching the match between you and Kane. I know the results were far from what you hoped for but it was entertaining to watch you dive and also watching the two of you banter and joke around. It seems as though you are playing like a lot of pressure has been lifted from your shoulders in terms of playing but we all know a new era of being the Commish will bring its own challenges and pressures.

Thanks for the entertainment over the years and I hope my thoughts are in line with what you wanted to deliver to the fans at conclusion of your career!

A friend is considering a GB Anvil so I'm curious what other folks think of the racquet. I told him I'd do some research to see what I can find out. If you don't/didn't like it, what did you find in that weight range that fit your needs better and why. Thank you.

Check out this website:

Performance Bike

They have select items on sale for buy one get one free! Great deals if you use this type of stuff. Most items are currently out of stock but they will ship to you when the goods arrive.
Just got clearance from the Dr to start playing again!!! Thank goodness! I played a few games of doubles yesterday and after my horrid timing was dialed in a bit, I was pleased with how much of the game actually game back. Seems as though I played the game instead of thinking all the time. Sore shoulder and hips/butt/legs today but the back is all good! Looking forward to getting back at it!

I have enjoyed swimming and cycling in the interim and will definitely keep both as part of my wellness plan.

Leo was interviewing Kane just a few mins ago and Mitch texted the question "What is your prediction for your next match and what do you plan to do with the Jr?". Kane's response....

Statement time.

Priceless. Can't wait to see this match!

I've been playing rball for about a year now with a bulging disk and initially it wasn't a big deal. However, as you might assume, it seems to be getting worse and my back spasms are almost daily. I suppose I'll finally heed the advice of my Dr and quit playing rball, flag football, and basketball for some time to let it rest. It's really frustrating since I was climbing the ranks and really improving. My game was getting much better and the drilling time was paying off.

I guess I'll be riding a spin bike for exercise and revisit rball in a few months. Most of my time now will likely be coaching my boys, which isn't a bad thing at all.

Anyone else deal with this? What did you do? What did you learn? What do you recommend?

I'm looking to get into the PDA phone group with an upgrade to a Blackberry/Palm/iPhone. However, I don't really know enough about what to look for to make sure I'm getting what I want. A little more info is below.

Current
Phone: Generic Verizon flip phone
Plan: Basic voice plan with 2 lines, no text or anything extra

Wanted
Phone: PDA phone for email, internet, voice, calendar
Plan: No idea, plan to use the data piece (email/internet) more heavily than the voice. My wife and I share 600 mins right now and never go over.
We will be staying with Verizon because our family's both have Verizon and we enjoy the mobile-to-mobile allowance.

I assume an iPhone is out since we are on Verizon but I'm curious what other Verizon users have and the monthly cost you are paying (if you are willing to share that info). The phone is for pleasure although my work email will be the email I will check from the phone. Thanks for the help.

If you need more info, just let me know. I don't know what else to offer b/c I don't really know what else to consider.

The first time you hosted a tourney, did you have a lot of nervous energy leading up to the big day? I'm kind of on a high right now excited about this weekend to see how it goes. I'm hoping to add 4-6 tourneys each year to my state's (KY) calendar so I'm curious if you always get the nervous energy? Or if it settles? Or you just expect it so you don't notice it as much?

Looks like he's coming to the KY ProAm, THE YEAR I CAN'T MAKE THE TOURNEY. What a bummer, I would love to watch this guy play live. I guess there's always next year... Stinkin' school...

I got a call from a gentlemen representing Jack asking if I wanted to have Jack come to my club during the dates surrounding the KY Pro-Am. I thought this was a very good idea and wish I could put something together. I would suggest making the call more than 2-3 weeks prior to the event as there really isn't enough time to get something like that set up. But the idea is great and hope they continue to reach out to the rball community.

Just thought I would share that and see if anyone else has received a similar call for player promotions.

I've been using the software to set up my first tourney and I must say that I really like that way this is set up. Easy to use, easy to navigate, very handy tool to have. Looking forward to the "Live Event" section to see how that functions as well.
I'll be in Columbus, OH for a business conference and will be staying at the Hyatt Regency at the Greater Columbus Convention Center Oct 4-7. What clubs are close? I'll have my car so transportation shouldn't be an issue. Looking for A/Open players for Monday and Tuesday night. Anyone want to get together and play? Or have recommendations of good places to play those nights?

Thanks for the help!

I heard John Scott (IRT Network Announcer) use the term "reverse pinch" for shots that I didn't think were. So, what is the definition of a reverse pinch? Is it a pinch that you hit to the corner "behind" you or closest to your back? Or is it a pinch that you hit to the corner on the opposite side of the court from where you are hitting?

Interested to see what changes other people recognized during the first event with the players.

... Jack. He was playing sharp and seemed to kill a lot more balls. Almost looked like he was moving faster on the court if that's possible. Also looks like he beefed up some.

... Andy. I think Andy can make some noise this year and it looks like he worked hard this off-season. Seems to me that he beefed up a bit too and was playing some good ball and was flying all over the court covering tough shots.

What players were you impressed with and why?

I posted this in another thread but wanted to bring it to it's own thread as well.

I hit around with the new KM 750 this past weekend. I haven't had a chance to game test it, but here's what I think thus far.

Power
The KM 750 is a step up from the KM 175 in the power category. I always thought the 175 hit the ball with some force but I feel like the 750 is a more explosive racquet.

Control
Control is pretty good for this racquet. I don't think the control is equally improved as the power, but I did notice a little more control and consistency in my shots. However, I'm having a hard time deciding if that is the racquet or me focusing more becuase I have a new toy to play with.

Feel/Touch/Swingability
The racquet had a different feel than the 175 in my hand and with dry swings. Not really sure exactly what the difference is, it felt a bit heavier than the 175 even though they weigh the same. I'm guessing the distribution is different, I haven't checked balance points. I noticed the throat of the racquet looked wider & thicker than I expected. When I started swinging, it took me a while to find the sweet spot consistently. However, when I did, the ball was cracking pretty effortlessly. I'm very impressed with the power of this racquet but can feel the racquet stiffness a bit more than last year. I think the beefed up throat improved the stiffness of the overall racquet which increased the power output. Swinging through feels as smooth as with other PK racquets I've played with. Vibration is much improved over the 175, virtually gone in comparison.

I really like the way the racquet hit when I got adjusted to it. Looking forward to testing it in match play to see how I like it at game speed!
