FIRST OFF I WANT TO SAY THANKS TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO TOOK THE CHANCE AND CAME OUT TO PLAY DESPITE THE HORRIBLE WEATHER THE PREVIOUS 3 DAY'S. ALSO, THANKS TO GREG, WHO SHOWED UP SUPER EARLY TO TRY AND DRY THE COURTS OFF FOLLOWED BY BOBBY AND THE GARE WHO HELPED OUT ALONG WITH WARREN AND MYSELF AND THUNDERS BLOWER (HAHAHA). NOW, ON TO THE SHOOTOUT, WE HAD TWO GROUPS OF TEAMS WITH THE TOP 3 ADVANCING TO THE PLAYOFFS. THE TEAMS TO ADVANCE WERE:
GROUP 1
GREG/CLUBBER
PINEDA/JESUS
BOBBY/THE GARE (YES THAT IS THE NICKNAME, THANKS TO BELMONTE)
GROUP 2
GARY MARTIN/THUNDER
BELMONTE/SHANNON KOHL
STEVE COHEN/GEORGE BARRERA

THE PLAYOFFS BEGAN WITH BOBBY/THE GARE VS. STEVE/GEORGE WHICH MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE MATCH OF THE DAY, WITH BOBBY AND THE GARE MAKING A COMEBACK THEN STEVE AND GEORGE COMING BACK GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH BOBBY AND THE GARE SERVING SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE WIN ONLY TO EVENTUALLY LOSE I BELIEVE 18-16, THIS GAME HAD EVERYONE WATCHING AND CHEERING, THANKS FOR THE GAME GUY'S.
THE NEXT GAME WAS PINEDA/JESUS VS. GARY/THUNDER, I WANT TO SAY THIS WENT WELL BUT PINEDA/JESUS PLAYED GREAT ALL DAY EXCEPT FOR 1 GAME AND AGAIN JUST WERE NOT MISSING AND GAVE A BEATDOWN TO A VERY GOOD TEAM IN GARY/THUNDER.
NOW IT GETS A LITTLE MORE INTERESTING WITH THE NEXT ROUND OR SO WE ALL THOUGHT, HOWEVER THAT WAS JUST NOT THE CASE AS CLUBBER/GREG STEAMROLLED THE JUST TRYING TO RECOVER TEAM OF STEVE/GEORGE WHO LOOKED LIKE ALL THERE GAS WAS BURNED UP IN THE GREAT GAME AGAINST BOBBY/THE GARE AS CLUBBER AND GREG BEAT THEM UP PRETTY GOOD. NEST UP PINEDA/JESUS VS. BELMONTE/SHANNON, AGAIN I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A VERY EXCITING MATCH WHICH IT WAS FOR A FEW POINTS AND THEN PINEDA/JESUS DECIDED THEY WERE GOING TO END THE GAME AND JUST TOOK OFF AND DEFEATED THE ALWAYS GAME PUNKER AND SHANNON.

NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE FINALS:
SOLIS/CLUBBER VS. PINEDA/JESUS
NOW I DON'T WANT TO START ANYTHING BUT YES THERE IS A PAST HERE BETWEEN SOME OF THE PLAYERS IN THIS MATCH SO I ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS WERE HOLDING OUR BREATH WHEN IT STARTED, HOWEVER I AM PLEASED TO SAY THAT SPORTSMANSHIP AND MATURITY WAS PART OF THIS FINAL AND NOT ONCE WAS THERE AN ARGUMENT OR BAD CALL (THANKS GUYS), BUT WHAT DID OCCUR WAS A GREAT GAME, STARTING OFF WITH JESUS GETTING 5 POINTS ON HIS FIRST SERVE TO GO UP 5-0 BEFORE YOU COULD BLINK AN EYE AND THEN IT WAS 8-2, BUT HOLD ON, AS THAT LEAD DIDN'T LAST LONG AS GREG AND CLUBBER DECIDED DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO START HITTING SHOTS AND THAT THEY DID AND BEFORE YOU KNEW IT THEY WERE UP 10-8. FROM THERE ON OUT IT WAS A VERY TIGHT GAME WITH CLUBBER HITTING THOSE WRAP SHOTS AND PROBABLY THE BEST TWO WALL SERVE ANY OF US HAVE SEEN THERE AT EDISON AND HOW HE DIDN'T EVER HIT THE WALL AND MADE THEM ALL GO OUT THE DOOR WAS AMAZING, AND THE FACT THAT JESUS COULD EVEN GET THE BALL BACK IN PLAY WAS INCREDIBLE. ONE OTHER THING THAT WAS AMAZING WAS THE FACT THAT PINEDA BROKE STRINGS ON HIS 3 RACQUETS THEN WENT TO ANOTHER BRAND FOLLOWED BY A THIRD BRAND IN THE FINALS, WOW! WITH THE GAME NOW 14-12 PINEDA/JESUS THE RALLY ENSUED WITH THE BALL COMING OUT TO THE BAKC LEFT OF THE COURT WITH A VERY TINY OPENING WHICH JESUS RAISED HIS ARM FOR AN OVERHEAD ONLY TO TAKE IT BUT CUT IT AND TAKE POWER OFF AND OVERHAND DINK THE BALL FOR THE WINNER IN THE CORNER, AND THE CROWD WENT WILD WITH DISBELIEF THAT HE WOULD EVEN TRY THAT SHOT, LET ALONE MAKE IT AND FOR THE WINNER. CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN AND JESUS ON THERE WIN ALONG WITH CLUBBER AND GREG FOR THERE PLAY IN THE FINALS AS WELL. THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO BRAVED THE COLD ALONG WITH GARY AND JIMBO WHO CAME DOWN TO DO SOME GRILLING, WHICH WAS MUCH NEEDED AND ENJOYED. SEE YOU ALL AT KOB NEXT MONTH!!!

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, I know this is a weird topic, however I have been on the lookout for socks that don't cause me problems. I feel like I have tried everything and all i'm doing is wasting money on socks. I am looking for some socks that allow my feet to somewhat breathe, have some cushion to them and will not allow my feet to slide all over the place (the last being the biggest problem). I went to a tighter, smaller size shoe so that I wouldn't keep tearing off my toenails, which helped a bit but my feet still slide around due to the socks i've tried. Apparently the thicker the sock and what I would have thought would mean more comfort actually means my feet slide around and I twist my ankle, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I need the last names of one of the teams that played in the Pro/Open division at Edison on Sunday, it was the team on the same side as Greg/Clubber, one guy has the tribal tatoo's, it's him and his partner, the first names are Chris/Bobby, thanks everyone.

I apologize for not posting the results yet or doing a write up but here goes. Sunday was the Edison Hot Shot Shootout, the first event post Championships and I have to say it was a great showing in the lower division, great job guy's (your write up will be forthcoming). The pro/open draw was stacked with great teams, which was really great for some not so great for others (you know who you are). In the Pro/Open division we had 15 teams playing on the semi long wall courts at Edison, which gives a huge advantage to the power drive servers, and there was no shortage of them on this day. Advancing to the playoffs were the following teams:

Roland/Soda Man vs. Lou/Pineda with the winner facing Clubber/Greg Solis

Well this game was a tough game with Roland running all over the place like a mad man getting to everything and even Soda Man throwing his svelt body on the ground diving for balls but the play of Lil Lou and Pineda was just too much for Roland and Soda Man as they went on to win to move to the semi's against Greg/Clubber.

Scott Davis/Andy Solis vs. Dale Valentine and Todd Entriken
Yeah I know, what are these indoor guy's (especially Todd) doing in the playoffs against Scott and Andy, well they played great all day (well except for that 1 game which we won't mention). This game was the best game of the day as it went way past the 15 points needed for the win. Every time that you thought the game was over someone would hit a sick shot or would hit an out serve by an inch. This was a power slam game with the big hitters just crushing the ball and Todd hitting behind the back through the legs, basically anything but a normal shot and it was enough to put them through (I wish this had been the final it was that good of a game). Next up for Dale/Todd is Geis/Peters.

Now the Semi's:
Lou/Pineda vs. Greg Solis/Clubber
Wow everything but the kitchen sink was thrown at Lou and Pineda and like super heroes they absorbed it and threw it back even better, especially once they were down by not hitting the shots that they had hit all day long. Greg as usual was a diving machine as was Lou and Clubber was hitting the snot out of the serve which sounded like a sonic boom, and then Brian hitting all of those pretty side wall front "massaging the wall" shots. Well for all of the Greg and Clubber's attack's, they were repelled and defeated by Brian and Lou who were now heading to the finals.

Dale/Todd vs. Geis/Peter's (yeah that Peter's)
The second semi was starting off as if it wasn't going to last more than 5 minute's with Dale and Todd blasting off and getting the first bunch of points before Jason and Mike new what hit them, but after settling down Jason and Mike made the comeback, and started to match every shot with Jason blasting the corners and Mike using his fabulous backhand to make this a close game, again with Todd just playing sick up front eating up everything that was coming at him and in the end it was just too much for Jason and Mike to handle losing a very close game that could have gone either way but this time went Dale and Todd's who were now heading to the finals.

Lil Lou/Pineda vs. Dale/Todd Finals
Alas, in this finals, the magic that had gotten Brian and Lou to the finals was finally running out as they ran into the now well oiled outdoor machine of Dale and Todd took over and just hit everything like they had been playing on these courts for ages. Lou and Brian hit all kinds of shots but just could not match the shots of Dale and Todd, maybe in a 3 game match they could have come back but not today and not in a 1 game final. Congrat's to both teams the lowest seeds to make the playoffs but the two best in the playoffs, and a big congrats to the winners of their first outdoor title Dale Valentine and Todd Entriken, way to go and thanks to everyone for showing up and playing, look forward to seeing you all at the next event in September.
