Anyone know what the racquetball climate is like in Ithaca? Colleges, Universities, YMCA?

Big tournament weekend here in Chicagoland! 17th annual Turkey Shoot at Glass Courts..............183 players in the draw! Outside of a regional/national tournament, this has to be one of the largest draw "regular" tournaments!
Anyone else have a bigger tournament recently?
Thanks to Doug Halverson (TD) and the DeArmas family for putting on great tournaments (the Annual Summerfest tournament this year had over 150!)

I was at Dick's Sports Store yesterday, and saw a whole display (racquet, gloves, balls) of Slazenger equipment.........when did they get into/back into racquetball? Anyone have any details? I thought it was interesting to see them with product out.
Jason,
Always a treat to watch you play, you are (and always will be!) the #1 fan favorite! Heard many times during the weekend that any match of yours is the one to watch! You are the best combo of rball player and entertainer!!
Couple of questions regarding your match with Jack:
You seemed to be hitting alot of passing/down the line shots which Jack kept retrieving til he hit a winner which was usually a pinch/splat. You seemed to score more of your points when you hit the pinch yourself. Why didn't you hit more pinches/splats? Was it because of the shots you were "getting" from Jack or was there a game plan you were trying to stick to?
Second, you are never one to make excuses, but some of us in the stands thought you were a little flat emotionally, perhaps not feeling well?

Not to get all sappy, but I think it is amazing how once something gets started, the ripple effect (like tossing in a pebble in a pond) takes over and bigger and better things can happen:
I am organizing a fundraiser racquetball tournament for an organization that buys bullet proof vests for police dogs (ww.ivestadog.org). I have been getting sponsors lined up to defray the tournament costs and all net proceeds go to the organization. The response has been excellent.
One of the sponsors is the vet that I take my GSD to. They are opening a new clinic, and are having an open house, and were so impressed with the IVAD cause that they are donating all proceeds from their open house to the organization.
Today I got an email from the IVAD director: A "regular" member at the club hosting the tournament (Norris Rec Center in St Charles IL) saw a poster for the event (Sep 28-30!) at the club. Her children donate birthday money every other year to a charity, and when she saw the poster and told her kids about it, they both want to donate their money this year to IVAD!
Just another reminder of how one person or one thing CAN make a difference in any area of life! Stop, take a look around, and maybe there is someone or something you can help! You never know what the influence of your involvement can do!

A full sanctioned tournament will be held Sept 28 at the Norris Center in St Charles IL. The event is a benefit for ILLINOIS VEST A DOG, a non-profit organization that purchases and donates bullet proof vests to K9 police dogs.

Any idea when rankings will be updated to include 2006 US Open and 2006 Natl Doubles?
Anyone interested in splitting a sponsorship? Courtside tables go for $2,000 and seat 4. I would like to split the cost with someone and we can each get 2 seats. Let me know!
Please fill in the blank:

Looks like Cheryl pulled out a tough 5 game'r against Rhonda! Congrats to Rhonda for a great year and to Cheryl for a strong finish. The results from Boise look almost identical to the match they played in Chicago: Cheryl loses 2 close ones, then goes the distance for the win.
What happened to CVH? Another no show, and no chatter on the forum about her status..................

Am I mistaken or did I read somewhere that you can vote online for the BOD candidates? I looked on the USAR page, and didn't see any links.
So how does the outcomes in VA and Boston affect the pro nationals? Anything left up for grabs? Is Jack #1 for the season? There was mention on a posting of an injury to Kane...anyone know for sure? We're looking forward to some great racquetball here in Chi-town!
Why the disparity in regional entry fees? I know supply and demand type of thing, but $60 for 2 events in Oregon, and $110 for 2 events in Chicago???? I think it was$80 for Atlanta. Last year in Chicago we had a small draw and people were complaining about the cost. I know the Pro Nationals are in conjunction with Chicago regionals but regionals shouldn't be subsidizing an IRT event.:?:
Two tournaments and 2 no-shows for CVH.....what's the scoop? Anybody care to share? Will she be in Chicago for the Pro Nat Womens Invitational?:?: :?: :?:
1. The receiver may not break the plane of the receiving line with the racquet or body until the ball either bounces in the safety zone or else crosses the receiving line.
Does this mean that once the ball has bounced, you can enter the safety zone to return the serve?
