My wife and I just got back from three days in Lake Placid, what a great spot.
We did some skiing this past winter and decided to return for some golf and hiking; this is a very active town.
I did not check for racquetball courts in the area, but since we will definately be returning can anyone suggest where to play in the area?
Heading for my first trip into the area (from Canada). There for 5 days; already on the agenda, golf, G Canyon, two shows. My wife is a runner so when she heads out for a run I will be looking for some rball. Staying downtown. Suggestions?
Good Luck to the Ontario Junior Team as you head to Montreal this weekend for the Junior Nationals.
40 players, plus coaches, plus parents, family and friends heading down the 401 will be an intimidating sight, even more impressive when they stand ready on the courts in full uniform.
Bring it Home!!!
My wife is running the marine corps marathon on Sunday. We will be driving down from Ontario Thursday night arriving in Washington on Friday. Going to the Maryland-Clemson football game on Saturday and leaving to come back on Monday.
Does anyone know if there are any racquetball courts close to the hotels for the marathon and what the best way would be to try and get a match?

For the past 3 years Cedar Springs in Burlington, Ontario has played host to the best of men's racquetball through the IRT.
Once again this year the players put on an awesome show on and off the court. This is great for helping us to grow the sport.
Special thanks to Dave Negrete, tour commish for his hard work and dedication to putting on a great show.
Congratulations to Jack, I think Canada is almost your second home!!
It was truly awesome having the women of the WPRO at Cedar Springs in Burlington, Ontario this past weekend. They are truly a collective of great talent, professionalism and personality all rolled up in sneakers and Dri-fit clothes.
If you or your association is considering looking into hosting a WPRO tour event-Make It Happen!! The spill off effect for women and junior racquetball will be great.
Special thanks to "the Commish", Shannon Feaster for her efforts in bringing this event to Ontario and putting on a great show while they were here.
It was special also for Ontario and Canadian residents to see Christie take the final, congratulations and keep it going!!

Please check the Racquetball Ontario web site for information regarding the spookiest, scariest and down right creepiest racquetball tournament in our calendar, coming up on Halloween weekend.

I think many in this group would have grown up to Boston. This was one of the first must have albums I can remember. I still put this c.d. in the deck t least once a month when driving. It is inevitable that as we grow older many of our music/entertainment and sports stars will grow old and pass on as well, some way to soon....
Join me in raising a glass (your choice of beveridge) to a great "Rock n Roll Band" whose songs invoked "More than a Feeling" whether we were "Smokin'" or "Hitch(en) a Ride", there music was a great "Foreplay" for good "LongTime". But "Don't Look Back", remember the good times and it will bring you "Peace of Mind"
Ciao

The month of October will be a busy one with our IRT Canadian Classic event, being kicked off on Tuesday, October 11th with an exhibition match between IRT fan favourite Shane Vanderson and Canada's (ONTARIO) own Mike Green.
Drop in, send me an email to say hello, and if you are planning to be in Ontario either for the Canadian Classic or any other reason, let us know so we can "roll it out" for you, the red carpet that is!!
My wife is a marathon runner and she will be running the Detroit Marathon on the 29th of October. I'll be doing a relay that same morning and we will be tied up most of that day and probably leaving either later that day or early on the Monday.
If the same pattern holds we will probably be coming into town on the Friday.
I'm not positive yet where we are staying but it will be close to the race course I'm sure. Can anyone suggest where I might check out some courts in town and perhaps even play a little on the Saturday.
I am the President of the Ontario Racquetball Association so I'm interested also in any info which might be available regarding programs, instruction, clinics etc..
Thank you in advance
I'll bet this is a unique problem (insert laughter here);
Our Provincial sport organization, Racquetball Ontario, has a fantastic board for the new year with some great ideas. An ambitious group with varied interests including; more teaching clinics, coaching clinics, refereee certification, more pro events, media coverage, emphasis on development areas including Junior and Female players, and the list goes on...
What we are short of is funding, although we are exploring several venues for government funding we also want to try and be somewhat self-sufficient. As a whole, and individually through clubs and tournaments we have held small fund raising ventures including;raffles, draws, charity matches, auctions etc. The problem we run into most is we are constantly approaching the same people, players and their families who are already contributing over and over.
My question (I had to get her soon or else people were going to think this was a Kathy post!!)is; Has anyone had any success with any type of fundraising venture that went beyond the confines of the racquetball crowd of regulars? If so please take a moment to describe. Failing that any sucessful ventures you have used beyond the "norm" would be helpful.
My only request is that we treat this thread like a brainstorming session, just post ideas, don't respond to them, especially negatively, until we have exhausted the ideas. If you see something here that you absolutely MUST respond to send a PM or open another thread called Fund Raiser Responses.
Ready...Set...Post....
Just a quick check to see how many Canadian's are out here with any regularity.
Stop in and say hello, and just to make things interesting tell me, in one sentence why you play racquetball!!

I have noticed that the last 3 topics posted on the Canadian section have had a toral of 407 visits with 11 replies, or just less than 3%. I am curious as to how many visitors to this section are Canadian and then more specifically from Ontario.

I will be in Cincinnati on/around the 5th of May until the 8th. My wife is running the Flying Pig Marathon and I will be doing the 10k run on the Saturday. Is there anywhere nearby that someone could recommend for trying to squeeze in a match while I am there.
I play mid-level B at my home club in Ontario
For all those who can't get enough trivia, here's one more.
The concept is simple, what theme or "other" connects the three songs, and try not to be too obscure.
Same rules, you reply and wait for confirmation that you are correct before posting your 3 songs.
I will start with a very easy one; My three songs are;
Candle in the Wind
Empty Garden
Brickyard Road
(Bonus points for naming the artist and the "who" for the theme!!)
