Get off the computer and start doing something that you love doing. Get in shape by participating in activities that get your blood pumping. Stop sitting around and meet new people that like to do the same thing as you do. Once you've met with them play often and have the rewards of a rich life with friends. Ahhh...to meet and play, life sure is good.
Meetandplay.com was created by one guy who moved to a new town and noticed that it was hard work meeting new people. To make matters worse he was getting a bit heavy around the waist. Running on the treadmill was really boring, especially all by himself. Blah, I'd rather watch TV or just watch the paint dry. Hmmm...that's not good.
How about some simple exercise with some friends? How great does it feel after you've had a serious work out. We all remember as kids running around laughing and playing with our friends that we met after school. What the heck happened to that? You say you don't have any friends? Maybe you lost touch with them, or moved across the country like me. It's really hard to make new pals without going door to door looking like a fool. But... I'm sure there's at least one other person in your area that likes to do the same things you do, if only you could find a way to get together.
And that's what MNP strives to do. We come here to meet others that like the same things that we like, and then we play like we're kids again. We have a lot of fun, while keeping the belly smaller and stop wasting time in front of the computer looking for something to do. Just imagine that the guy down the street, that you look funny at while he drives by, likes to play soccer. Holy crap, so do you. Sport is the greatest equalizer, it doesn't matter what race, religion, creed, or color. Pretty soon you two will be hanging out just like old friends, and holy moly soccer burns up those calories quick, let me tell you. That's not the only activities that does (find some over on the left part of the page).
Don't see your activity over there? No problem, suggest a new activity to add to the site. If you like to do it, someone else does too, so don't be shy. Add it to the site so you and others can meet and play as well.
What the heck are you still reading this crap for? I didn't build this site for reading! If you haven't noticed a common theme here, you are supposed to meet and play!
The site was created by Will Tilton as a way for racquetball players to meet other people when they travelled. It turned into more of a community when he joined an open source project called YetAnotherForum.net and integrated it into the site. Jackie his wife also maintains and monitors the going ons around the site. Since that time, I have rewritten it from the ground up to support any activity and use a more of a user moderation type of system to the forum sections.
The site was coded using many technologies like PHP/MySQL, then ASP with an Access backend, then ASP.NET 1.0 up to 2.0 then later again using the ASP.NET MVC framework all with SQL Server.
Will uses the site as a playground of sorts to learn new technologies and does not do this as a fulltime job. You might run into bugs here and there so please be patient as I only get around to working on the site in off hours. I am committed to the site as I think my vision for it will make everyone have a lot of fun so it's going to get there!
